The Buddhist Culture

The Indian sculpture was carved in the early 3rd century when Ashoka adopted Buddhism. (“Indian Sculpture | Asian Arts”). He had set out on a mission to spread the faith as far as possible. With him were several monuments shaped like a dome. These monuments contained teachings of Buddhism. The famous pillar of Ashoka in Sarnath was a hieratic art representing the empire of Mauryan. One of the most elegant surviving sculptures of the Mauryn Empire is the great Stupa at Sanchi. The carvings had the representation of a great religious leader’s lifestyle. They were mostly erected in monasteries and the entrances to significant empires gates. However, nowadays, the sculpture has made an iconic representation of religion in India. These carvings are made from stones depicting the incarnations of Buddha. Although Buddha did not recommend idol worship, his image has been made a symbol of divination. The image of Buddha represents a meditative and serene atmosphere for self-reflection and connection with divinity. This paper focuses on Hinduism art and reveals its implications to the modern art of music.

Hinduism became the official religion of the Gupta empire during the 4th, 5th, and 6th centuries. (Mookerji, Radhakumud np). It was during this period that it was marked with numerous images of popular Hindu Gods and Goddesses. Buddha images are used to describe the notion that he was the great savior of mother earth. Most of the modern Indian music has broader incorporation of this sculpture. The tradition of worshiping Buddha has been carried to the modern era. This tradition depicts the massive influence of religion culture to a modern lifestyle. For instance, music by Priyanka Chopra- and Indian female singer has, in many cases, suggested the impact of this tradition in the musical art. Her music has shown distinct acknowledgment and appreciation of this tradition. Images of Buddha sculptors are widely displayed in the background of her music videos. This further shows how much the Hinduism religion has impacted the musical art in the modern era.

Buddhism culture and tradition was widely spread across Asian countries. Everywhere, the culture was adopted, the people shifted from their initial worshiping ways into following Buddhism. His central teaching surrounded serenity and self-reflection. (Garden np). Meditation formed the dominant mode of worship for Buddhists. During these meditation periods, a person would reconsider his/her life. They would as well reflect on the divinity, which leads to the appreciation of Mother Nature. Most importantly, the Hinduism culture has had long effects and influences that have been felt in modern cultures.

This culture is very recommendable as it calls for self-reflection of a person’s character. Following his teachings has helped many Indians develop adorable characters. More so, through mediation, people get to reflect on the relations with each other. This has facilitated good ties in the community, explaining why the Indians have, for long, been the only culture with deep family ties. They also have formidable social relations with each other.

Overly, this is a culture I would recommend. Its influence on the modern era of music has had positive impacts. For instance, Chopra’s music has gained a lot of recognition throughout the globe for the incorporation of her culture in the music.  As such, I would recommend one to familiarize myself with this culture has it entails several other aspects not covered in this paper. By doing so, one shall be appreciating the diversity and influence of religious impacts on the modern art of music.
