Introduction

The world is dynamic; every aspect in it keeps on changing. Civilization has led to some positivity and negativity in people’s lives. Other factors can also be considered to be technological advancement where people, especially youths, have access to any information which exposes them to a delicate life where they can ruin their lives. There are also cases where there is an observation of having very educated people, yet they live in deplorable conditions. Education has failed in some cases to be the root of success. Education is meant to help people learn different life skills that are important in social relations (Price, 2019). To grow the society economically, civically, develop humanity, and provide chances of equity for all people. This has dramatically changed; instead, people have been avoiding developing competencies in education.

The other important aspect is religion. Religion is meant to help individuals to cultivate effective values and principles that are core to the moral uprightness of the people. Religion is also meant to help develop spiritual tenets of tolerance, love, unity, compassion, integrity, sacrifice, and sharing, which are the basics in progressive civilization. However, this has not been the case. There have been reports of religious groups forming terrorists who become the greatest threats in world security, for instance, the Islamic terrorist groups. This has contributed to people also avoiding religious involvement. This paper discusses various negative impacts of education and religion competencies that have led to many people avoiding to be associated.

Negative impacts of education to the society

Education is expensive and time-consuming. For one to fully complete basic education and do specialization in a specific field, one requires a lot of money and time. In order for one to acquire good quality education, one has to join good institutions, but it becomes a challenge due to the high amount of school fees required. This becomes a challenge to the low-income earners, and they tend to keep off from advancing their education despite having a will. This has been a great challenge in most regions of the world where you find that the parents have the will to educate their children, but due to lack of capital, children end up acquiring just the basic education which is provided by the government (Birnbaum & Snowdon, 2003). In other cases, people are not able to access even basic education, maybe due to inadequate facilities and personnel. In some parts of Africa, teachers are not enough as well as schools. Children also face challenges of drought, making it very challenging to attend school without basic needs.

Education is used as a tool of discrimination. Education systems are not devised in a way to favor every learner’s abilities. In most cases, the curriculum is developed in a standard way, yet learners’ level of understanding is different for different individuals. We are all created uniquely; no one has the same abilities as the other. Education groups all learners with similar standards, which in most cases, end up discriminating and leading to the low self-esteem of learners (Birnbaum & Snowdon, 2003).

Additionally, education grades are used to secure job opportunities all over the world. Why should there be other means of accessing people’s abilities? Some people are good in class while experiencing challenges in social interactions when such an individual is allocated public relations related job. He or she will end feeling disappointed since he or she could not meet the job requirements. Still, the individual would soot in a different career so well.

Education has led to a high number of unemployed graduates. Learners are groomed to be employed in big companies and get good salaries. Schools have set curriculums of different departments in a way that graduates are only trained to fit in a particular job. This has been a disappointment to many learners. They finish schools, but due to a high number of graduates and low job opportunities, they end up being jobless and having now where to get income. This has been a discouragement to many who avoid developing education competencies.

Negative impacts of religion on society

Inter-denominational conflicts. There have been lots of conflicts between different denominations and also between religions; every religion or denomination trying to show its power and originality above the other (Díez-Esteban, Farinha, & García-Gómez, 2019). These conflicts turn in wars where many people die, and others are left with permanent sufferings. This has contributed to people avoiding to be associated with religious matters.

Availability of false religious leaders. Many religions and denominations have emerged not driven by God but by greed. In Christianity, there has been a crop of so many churches where some involve magic to trick people of God’s miracles. Many of these churches are started by greedy people who only care about acquiring wealth from vulnerable people. They ask for money to perform church ministries, but they end up using it themselves (García-Gómez, 2019). They pretend to prophesy only to get the attention of many people. This has led to many people avoiding to be involved in religion.

Conclusion

Both education and religion have failed society. This has led to a negative attitude from many people who have experienced or heard of the negative impacts on society. These are significant aspects that are supposed to be on the top list in helping the social development of the society. This calls for a remedy from the responsible bodies.
