Woodrow Wilson starts by arguing that there is nothing done in America as per 1912 as it was done 20years ago.

The society of his time is in the presence of new organization the economic conditions have been absolutely changed from the top to bottom. The old way of politics did not feet in the current problems facing united states in 1912.he says that the new order of society hasn’t been made to satisfy and give prosperity the average person. Men in his time no longer worked for themselves or as partners as they used to do earlier but now, they work generally as according to hierarchy either high grade or low grade in large corporations.

These corporations now play a big part in the business affairs unlike during the olden days

In this corporations as an employee, you do have access to the men who generally determine policies of the corporation neither do you have a say in the matter but you should obey as directed with no questions asked. Woodward perceives that the current organization of employer-employee relations have to be revisited and the law should be made so as to address these issues.

For instance, the employer during his time and our time is not one individual but a powerful group and in case of an incident occurring you can hold no one accountable instead the group of directors is held accountable.

The law had a loophole since it was made during the earlier times when employer and employee had a personal contact which was not the case in 1912. the law thus had to be changed so that they would address the current system of governance. He says all of us are caught in the economic system which we are all caught in a system of economy which is inconsiderate. The modern system is not involved in the business as an individual.

The current laws did not distinguish between an individual’s act from the acts of the organization. He sites that it is evident with regard to matter employer’s liability for workmen injuries. the law cites that the person in charge is a work colleague and thus he or she can’t cover the injuries caused to the employee.

It seems that every man is afraid of a bigger power than himself which he is afraid of not condemning and would rather not speak about it.

In another matter, he says that it is difficult for an individual to build a business that competes with these corporations because they make it difficult for him to enter the market so that they are able to retain a monopoly. This is so as to enjoy the economies of scale that come with being a monopoly in a market.

This is against the way the country is perceived, as it is perceived that no citizen is supposed to be under limitation other than that of his mind and character, where there should be no discrimination based on social class or blood but where men lose or profit on their merits.

He argues that the American enterprise is not free as it was once free as the men with little capital are finding it difficult to enter into the market as it is impossible to compete with this big corporation. He continues to argue there is no law limiting the strong from crushing the week.

The bigger types of loan are almost impossible to obtain without having to associate yourself with those already in control society. any man who tries to compete with the major players is either squeezed or agree to be absorbed by the big players.

The country needs are laws which will look after who are upcoming rather than those who are already established. He says that the treasury of America lies in ambitions, energies, that cannot be confined to a special preferred class. the American society needs to restore conditions which will make the country to be seen as a fair valley where everyone is given equal priorities whether big or small player in the economy

He adds that the country has portrayed her great endeavours on the broad advantages, ran her good fires of corporations high over the hilly-sides and under into the water bath of the world, and ambitious people were all over becoming heads of companies, not workers; not viewing at a distant land to discover what they are supposed to do, but glancing within their neighbours and relatives, being judged with regard to their character, not according to how well one is connected, looking for credit with regard to what was acknowledged to be inside them and behind them, not in regards to the protection held that were agreed upon where they weren’t known. So as to begin a business right away, you need to be approved, harshly, not in comparison to oneself, but with regard to what you own that another person agrees you own it. It shouldn’t be a case wherein order to establish yourself that you have to be approved the bigger players of the industry because that is not true freedom.

He sarcastically uses an example where an exemplary government was for everyone to be deserted and not to be disturbed except when he enters into the affairs of another individual this was applicable during Jefferson’s error but at the moment the law should step in and create new conditions which will make it ok for everyone to stay peacefully.

He uses imagery where he compares to the earlier days where everyone lived in his own house hold to illustrate the earlier way of governance .and this new era where people live in apartments where people share the same household.

He uses an example the city of Glasgow world, they have set their thought that the entry and exits of high tenements are universal streets. hence, the police patrol verandas; the lighting office of the city makes sure that the halls are well lit. The city center does not lie to itself into agreeing that the building is a place from which the Men in blue are to keep out and the social authority to be excluded; These are public highways, and light is needed in them, and are controlled by the governance of the city.

A corporation is like the likes of these large tenement house it belongs to the public where you offer the shares of a great organization to anyone who wishes to buy them. If we have faith that scum lays in wait for us, we could have ways of identifying whether our suspicions are correct.
