Winter Break Housing Advocacy
Every day, many students struggle to find a place to sleep. Imagine attending lectures without having enough sleep and completing your daily lecturers without knowing where you will lay your head to sleep. We have students who have dreams to achieve, but they fail to meet the goals because of the challenges they face. We recognize the new partnership between San Jose State University and Airbnb to address the issue of many students lacking a place to reside. It is a remarkable milestone because most of us will have a chance to get a place to call home. We will sleep, not worrying about where we will sleep the next day. Many students qualify for the new project that aims to address the issue of homeliness, but they feel that the university has not made sure that they reach out to assist the students. They feel neglected in their university. They hope that the university may come up with ways in which they can reach out to students who don’t have homes and assist them. My plea is that the university should partner with student leaders; this will make it easier for students to reach out and get the much-needed help. For instance, my friend John Holm a student at the university has faced the challenge of not having a place to stay. He has hopes that he will be considered in this project for him to have a place to stay. His wish is that the university reaches out to him so that he may be among the first students to be in consideration. I believe that the university will do its best to make sure that all the students who are in need are accommodated for a better tomorrow.
