Developing a Philosophy, Goals, and Objectives
Philosophy Statement Draft for Mountain View Health Center
At Mountain View Health Center, we believe that patients should always come first when it comes to the delivery of medical services. We intend to ensure that this goal is met through creating a platform and environment within the health center for progressive patient-centered care for all members of the public.
For the philosophy to be operationalized, it is critical that goals and objectives are developed. One goal that can be created is meeting all the healthcare needs of clients who visit the hospital. If the goal is pursued, the health center would be well-placed to meet its philosophy of guaranteeing patient-centered care for all people in the community it serves. An objective that could also be developed is to ensure that physicians put the interests of the clients first in any medical service that is provided.
I have several things about the importance of a philosophy statement when developing the one above. First, the philosophy must always be related to the services that an organization provides. Such relation means that an organization cannot develop a philosophy statement for processes or services that it does not provide to the public realm. Secondly, I understood why different organizations have different philosophy statements. Each organization has different goals and ambitions that it intends to fulfill in the future. As a result, differences in the philosophy statements are bound to be observed. The exercise also offered me an opportunity to understand the distinction between objectives and goals. Goals are end results that are desired. On the other hand, objectives are daily steps or actions that can be taken to achieve the goals that have been stipulated.
The philosophy statement, objectives, and goals are clearly written. Clarity in the writing of these elements ensures that they can be understood with relative ease. These statements are used to direct members of the workforce at the hospital including nurses, technical staff, physicians, and management at the facility. If they were not clear, members of the workforce could not have a clear sense of direction at the organizational level. These statements are critical for organizational direction and thereby must always be clear and concise. Another aspect that I assessed was the alignment of the developed philosophy statement and the objectives and goals. Alignment is critical since it ensures that each factor complements the other when various organizational goals are being pursued. Alignment also guarantees that the sense of direction of the organization is within the accepted standards of the industry.
Alignment of the three aspects is also relatable with the accepted values of the organization. Organizational values are abstract ideas that guide the thinking and actions of the members of the workforce. The aspects are aligned to the organizational values of ensuring that client healthcare outcomes are achieved. Through developing care that is patient-centered, the outcomes of the patients are achievable with relative ease. The developed goal is specific and measurable. By being specific, it is not vague and clearly indicates what needs to be pursued by the organization. The goal is also attainable since it is realistic and within the reach of the selected organza ion. The three aspects also reflect on the main stakeholder in the company, clients or patients. They are centered t
o the realization of patient outcomes.
