Science Based Fictional Movies
Introduction
Science fiction movies are films that uses imagined ideas based on science to depict an occurrence that is not approved by the primary stream science. Science fiction films are on most occasions, aimed to reflect on the political and social issues and as thoroughly investigate the physiological effects such as the condition of the humans. This work seeks to analyze four of these science fiction movies, which include: The Frankenstein, the day the earth stood still, the thing from the other planet, and the invasion of the body snatchers in that order.
First, Frankenstein is a fictional science movie since 1931 directed by James whale and adapted by Peggy Webling. According to the film, Frankenstein medical student in his teenage years and he is much interested in what makes life; like how do fruits come to exist on the trees, how do two sons of the same mother one become smart and upright while the other is very corrupt and criminal? His desire to explore makes him obsessed to a point he overwhelmed with the unholy spirit to come up with the life of his own. Unfortunately, he forgets to consult with God.
In the film, out of curiosity Frankenstein goes on to experiment, he takes the corpses and body parts, puts it together, and of his magic, he gives life to ‘a thing’ that had no pity, love, or humanity. The thing went ahead, killing innocent people, including children. Eventually to the viewer’s amazement, ‘the thing’ appeared during Frankenstein’s wedding. This time, the villagers were ready to trap it and kill it. Before they realized ‘the thing’ fled to an old mill to seek safety. The mob runs after ‘the thing,’, and when they failed to catch it, they decided to set the mill on fire. Due to its uncontrolled anger, the monster threw the doctor and trapped between the flames, Frankenstein burnt into death (Shelley, 2012). Conclusively, this fiction depicts the people’s curiosity to come up with new things that, at times, may be harmful to the people. The monster created by Frankenstein turns out to be a monster that destroyed the life of the innocent, including its creator.
Secondly, according to Etherden (2016). The science fiction movie the day the earth stood still is an American film of 2008, screen played by David Scarpa. The movie is based on a short science fiction story written by Harry Bates ‘Farewell to the master’. The video was directed by Scott Derrickson with Keanu Reeves as Klaatu and the main actor. The central theme displayed in the film is the standard-issue affecting humans on the destruction of the planet.
It follows when an alien by the name Klaatu is sent on others to save the earth by changing the human behavior or eradicating the human race. The alien arrives in New York, and Dr. Helen Benson and other scientists are summoned to meet the alien. Klaatu declares to them that he has been sent to save the universe. The US officials see him as a threat hence decides to interrogate him further. Dr, Helen helps Klaatu to escape by injecting him and whispering in his ears, “escape.”
Klaatu later meets another alien that was sent before him to live human for 70 years. Looking at the lives of the people, Klaatu was convinced that he had to save the earth, and he never stopped until he saw it happening. Klaatu sacrificed his own life for Dr. Benson and Jacob by transferring the disease to his own body.
Thirdly, the thing from another world is an American science fiction movie of 1951 directed by Christian Nyby. According to Telotte (2019), in 1949 in Anchorage, Alaska, one of the officers’ captain Patrick who is referred to as ‘pat,’ is summoned by General Fogarty and ordered to go to the distanced military post and investigate what had crushed on earth. With his military and scientists, he flew and discovered a flying saucer that was buried in the ice. They employed their Thermite bombs, and instead, it explodes and becomes damaged. In the process, they found a form of frozen life and took it to the laboratory. They discovered that when the creature melts, it spikes the dogs losing one arm. Dr. Carrington carries out research and founds out that it’s a life of vegetables that gives birth like plants. Captain henry declares that the creature is dangerous; hence sorts to destroy it, but Dr. Carrington that scientific explorations are more essential than human lives; thus, he keeps the animal experience.
Lastly, according to Finney (2015), invasion of the Body snatchers is a fictional science horror film of 1956, which was produced by Walter Wanger and directed by Don Siegel. The movie depicts two characters, Kevin McCarthy and Dana Wynter. The story in the film is about an extraterrestrial invasion that started in fictional California. The spores of alien plants fell from space and grew mainly, and each is in a position to produce a similar copy of every human being. And as the pods develop fully, they take up the memories, personality, and all the characteristics of every human sleeping closer to it. Nonetheless, the duplicates only refuse to assimilate the human emotions, and with time a doctor discovers the invasion and works towards stopping it.

This work sort to analysis four scientific fictional movies, which are: The Frankenstein, the day the earth stood still, the thing from the other planet, and the invasion of the body snatchers in that order. All these movies are science-based. And in every one of them, there exists a peculiar creature that seems to do things out of the ordinary. These four movies depict the scientific revolution that takes place daily due to technological development.
Frankenstein, with the help of technology, came up with a creature that proved to be dangerous by attacking people and killing them. In the day the earth stood still, an alien by the name Klaatu was sent to save the planet because things seemed to be going wrong. The humans misused the environment, and hence there was need. Thirdly, in the situation from another world, a peculiar creature attacking human lives is also discovered but instead kept alive by Dr. Carrington because, to him, scientific discoveries are more important than human beings. Lastly, in the invasion of the body snatchers, a peculiar type of plan species is discovered, which tends to take up the human characteristics. This shows that evolution is sincerely inevitable, and the world is eventually falling in for it. As the days go by, scientists invent new things, some human-friendly and useful to the people while others are harmful and dangerous to the human hence as much it’s essential to move with the contemporary issues, we should be careful to ensure that the lives of the people are protected.
