Sudhir Choudhrie is an Indian entrepreneur, economist, and a philanthropist who is well known in the United Kingdom as a top businessman. He was born in India and brought up in a humble family of a single parent as his father died while he was still young. According to Choudhrie, his mother was a great inspiration and teacher to him, and she has played a vital role in his success. Choudhrie studied his primary and secondary education with tenacity as he believed it was the only way he can uproot himself and his family from poverty. He passed his high school education and joined the University of New Delhi, where he studied a bachelor’s degree in economics.

After completing his education, Sudhir Choudhrie used to do some odd jobs in the country and saved the little that he earned as he was aiming to start a business. In 1960 while technology was at its exponential phase in India, and people started knowing about TVS, Choudhrie was a retailer of the televisions. He was purchasing the TVS from the UK and imported them to India. His business thrived within a short time, and he was known to be the great supplier of TVs and its accessories in India. Later, he decided to start importing other equipment such as the farm machinery since most of the Indians were practicing agriculture.
Sudhir Choudhrie then started a company in 1975 known as Magnum International Trading Company, which is based in India. The company is an investment firm that mainly ventures in the healthcare sector and real estate. He is the senior executive officer of the company. Later, Choudhrie established another company called Alpha C&C Group, where he is the vice president. Choudhrie’s achievements are also evident in the United Kingdom, where he currently resides. He has a library named after him at the University of Oxford as he is an active benefactor of Free Templeton College.
Apart from business, Sudhir is passionate about conducting philanthropic activities and helping others improve their living standards. He offers donations to orphanages in India and schools. He is also an ambassador of Indian art in the United Kingdom.
