“ALL OUR DREAMS CAN COME TRUE, IF WE HAVE THE COURAGE TO PERSUE THEM”

Since the dawn of mankind, knowledge, and application of business techniques, be it barter, trade, or plain retail, has been a key factor for a civilization to prosper or crumble in the shadow of someone else. It was the truth of the world then, and it still is. This thought has always baffled me ever since I was a child. What fascinated me since the very beginning was the idea of how money is generated, retained, reused, and multiplied. At least that’s what I have seen my father doing since the time my memory can run back to.

These famous words by the fantasy legend Walt Disney have inspired me throughout my life to work and strive hard to fulfill my aspirations. The dream to become a successful entrepreneur has sunk its roots in my persona since the very start. Early off as a teenager, I have been going through the profiles of big business tycoons, industrialists, and professionals and wondered what skills it might take to grow this big, to achieve such heights in the related fields, what makes great men, Great….But only talents and knowledge of business couldn’t be it… there has to be something more to it, and then I realized that what they all had in common is a super developed skill at marketing. For example, consider Steve Jobs, one of the most influential innovators of our time. Even though it is a known fact that the technical brain behind all the early apple products was Steve Wozniac, but had it not been for Steve Jobs’ amazing ability to convince the masses that their products are what the people need and that they are the ultimate in that category, apple would not have been such a success. So it all boils down to one fact, just a knowledge of things and the ability to produce them is not sufficient, the most important one instead, is how the product is put forth to the targeted masses, how it is marketed.

The root cause of my interest to be like them tracks back all the way to the manner in which I was brought up and the way I am as a person. Stories about how to make in roads into a new market, how to step ahead of the competition, when to make capital investments and when to cut back, filled my growing up years. But all this has no meaning if I am not able to reach my business to the masses, if the customers don’t get to know about my products and if the company does not have a brand value. Coming from the family background of a pharmaceuticals manufacturer and finance, I often heard my father and uncle’s discussion about the key agendas of the business, and it intrigued me immensely. It laid down the stepping-stones for the future plan, and I took up chemical engineering since it was a field related to my family’s mainstream business. And it has ever since been my passion to take up the family business and boost it up to the next level, expand it beyond the confines of its current local locations, and spread it over to the various important cities all over the country and eventually worldwide. I want to bring “GLOCALISATION” in my current setup. I came across this new phenomenon in International Business being a person interested in reading journals and magazines on business standards. This process is very much in alignment with my future plans of bringing globalization in my localized business.

I started off pursuing my undergrads in chemical engineering from one of the most reputed universities in India, I gained an in-depth knowledge of the various theories and applications of several principles like chemical reaction engineering, process plant design, costing, etc. It also dealt with selecting plant equipment’s and optimum methods of production to minimize costs and maximize profitability. All this appealed to me since it had a direct correlation to my family business. But my deep-running passion in business marketing was consistent in my mind. I authored a term paper on the Marketing of Pharmaceutical Products, which impressed the faculty greatly.

During the course of my studies, I was closely associated with organizing multiple seminars, presentations, talks, most significant of which were the seminars on Introduction to MEMS (Micro-Electro Mechanical Systems) and Applications of Cryogenics. Alongside this, I also presented a project on Synthesis of Perovskite Catalyst and its Application in Environment that involved rigorous experiments and analysis, and it doubled up as a team-building exercise. I underwent a summer internship at Plastene India Ltd, where I learned about the production of the packaging products made from plastic and its marketing trends.

But academics is not enough. As the saying rightly goes ‘All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy,’ I indulged myself in extracurricular activities. I was an active participant of the Rotaract Club of my college, where I started as a volunteer, then as a coordinator and finally as to marketing and technical head, where I arranged for sponsorships and aids for making the club socio-cultural events possible. I organized many of the seminars and workshops. Some of them were on dance, adobe workshop, photography, etc. The events organization on such a huge scale gave me so much of courage and boosted my confidence largely. Organizing large-scale concerts of famous celebrities namely Sunidhi Chauhan and Mohit Chauhan, gave me the opportunity to face challenges in terms of controlling the massive crowd of people, security, infrastructure, and gave me an experience as to how it is to manage such a happening. I also organized many social, philanthropic events such as blood donation camps, orphanage, and old-age home visits. We shared the joys, sorrows, catastrophe, aggression suffering and tribulations of the older people. It was really joyful to be a part of this bringing a smile in the life of underprivileged and handicapped dreamers by giving them gifts and primary teaching to build their capacity and gradually sustain and scale up themselves and their activities.

Besides this, I am a swimmer, and I have won a lot of competitions at interschool and social organization levels. I also pride myself on having crossed the Narmada River – it’s the fifth largest river in central India at a tender age. I am also proficient in tennis and adventure sports such as Bungy jumping, skydiving, and scuba diving, and such activities give me a rush.

I got selected in campus placement at Larsen and Toubro, the engineering giant as a graduate engineer trainee in the Hydrocarbon business. I work in Chemical plants, mid and downstream business units. My work profile includes Proposal and Estimation; I get to learn cost estimation of the projects, which we as a team bid for. Cost estimation gives an overview of project profitability and helps strategize and rectify any loopholes in the existing scheme. It’s truly an enriching experience to work in such a proficient organization.

Having gone through the prospectus of the concerned program, I have confidence that the program at (NAME OF UNI) will help me deliver and attain my goal of going global with my current business. I have done my primary research, and the alumni and current students both have given me feedback about their enriching experiences at your university, and hence it excites me altogether to join your esteemed university. I am looking forward that admission committee considers my profile and give me an opportunity to be part of this university. I have full faith that when I will come out of this program, I will be better equipped and groomed for the challenges that my following professional career would put in front of me.
