Child Development Observation
Child development is physical, psychological, and emotional development that is experienced in the period of birth towards the final stages of adolescence in human beings. Here the child goes through the process of dependency in order to increase autonomy. This is continuous progress that has predictable events and also has a unique foundation for every kid (De Vries et al., 2016).
Autonomy does not happen at the same time, but each stage is affected by the progressiveness of different developments. Genetics and prenatal development also take part in the child’s development study, the reason being that developmental changes might be profoundly affected by genetics aspects. My observation was carried out in a home where the parents had gathered them together. At that time, I had an opportunity to observe the four children’s behaviors; two were having their time playing with balloons and teddy bears while others were playing at a distance. That was a joyful moment they all had when not destructed by anyone. At my best, I shifted my focus and favor to one particular kid named Jack. Other kids were very busy getting to enjoy each other company.
The most handsome boy Jack loved to engage himself with all different playing toys without ignoring any of them at the scene. He was not pleased to take too much time to play with one toy for too long at any given chance. Jack, never at any time, seemed to be a character that will allow any other kind to play with a toy or any other object by themselves. By what I observed closely for sure was that the little Jack could not take a single minute to remain focused with anything close to him; he was distracted anytime from all he was doing at the moment? Also, he was quickly bored to stay close to one kid for very long. He was comfortable making movements around the toys and other kids.
All kids were able to overcome all the challenges they came across regarding their ages. By that, it showed that explains the physical and motor development was well observed. All the kids were well physically because they were able to kick, talk, cry, walk, run, yell, and any other test. Not forgetting, the kids were able to stack and move around objects and toys that they were playing with. All sorts of active actions like talking and walking, explain the physical state of a person (Zeng et al., 2017).
The course textbook states that it is very crucial to give the kids enough freedom and creativity to express and explore their world. That statement explains that every kid has an urge to learn, try, and practice new things and be very curious about the things or objects that they had never come across before. Every child will insist on finding a way to search and have new things no matter how the situation is.
The most visible observation in these children is cognitive development. All the children were able to engage with every toy or object. They made sure that they can make every toy move as it is supposed to be. The toys were used in the right manner as they are supposed to be used. The kinds were wiser enough to know and pick the right toys out of a bunch from the boxes and floor. They comprehended every instruction given by their parents, who also observed and talked to them carefully.
Little Jack knew that when one plays with a toy for a long time, he will definitely get used to it and get bored quickly. Also, he knew that when he keeps playing with the different toys, he will enjoy much and never get bored quickly. Other kinds also were brilliant; knowing playing in groups will be the best tool to use in knowing each other well as well as playing an enjoyable game together. According to Schechter (2017), cognitive ability is measured using differential ability scale; this provides a composite of a total of all cognitive processes.
Psychosocial development was present in all of the kids, as I observed keenly. It was seen that one of them was well aware and informed of what was going on at that particular moment. All the kids were able to socialize and play together with no difficulties between them. The little Jack was seen to love given all the attention from everyone; he loved to be the main center of attention by having caught my attention. Other kinds were not even interested in being given any attention; instead, they concentrated on their playing.
Focusing on psychosocial stage 2 autonomy vs. shame and doubt, I see that Jack has started to find the freedom of choosing toys of his choice himself, making some decisions, and performing some necessary actions like opting to play with toys alone. Again it seems that Jack opted to seek the full attention in order to take full control of everything above the other kids, for example, by exchanging the toys now and then anytime he feels like.
There was also an observation regarding the language. It is hard for everyone to understand every word that comes from a kid’s mouth. The kids might not be able to express themselves clearly by the use of words, but they will seek all means to make their point, to make sure that all other people around them will understand what they want. Here all the kids kept yelling, crying, and laughing to express their emotional states and requests.
In Ecclesiastes 3:1, the theme states that there is a time for everything. I relation to child development, it is evident that every stage of development has its own time to take place. For example, from childhood, adolescent to adulthood stages. All these stages tend to wait for a particular time to start having effects on humans’ daily life as age is concerned.
Child development tends to define the level at which kind is growing. With the help of physical, cognitive, and psychosocial theories, it is easy to notice the progress of a kid’s growth. All these theories are fundamental because when one tends to monitor a kid’s development, there are traits that will define whom the kind will turn to be in the future (Bouvette et al., 2017). For example, through my observations, I managed to see Jack’s behavior, and at some point, I was able to predict his next moves. It also came into my attention that Jack was struggling to say some words that made me predict how old he was about two to three years old.
