National culture

National culture is the way people do their things and they believes that they have (Adekola at el 2016). National culture is a vital aspect when it comes to community development and the creation of projects in a specific country, especially when working from outside countries. Like Jones in the Tanzanian dam project, involving the community in decision making was a meaningful gesture that helped to make the sound go ahead without interfering with their daily activities or working against what they know best for their country. Therefore, respecting the culture of other people is a paramount thing.

Jones, when he was deployed for the construction of the dam and his businesses, he had to get support personnel who will help him in meeting the speculations of the dam. There are formal guidelines that he had to do in order to meet the lifestyle and ways that they used to conduct their issues (Bird at el 2016). There are practices of putting the Nation ahead , considering  development apart from self-gain was one of the aspects that Jones faced, and he had to cope up with the trend since. Finally, the dam and the business were to benefit a local man in Tanzania. The mode of living in the Nation is quite different, so Jones decided to isolate himself from others so that they can learn how to cope up with the new environment and climate of Tanzania where they were practicing their work.

There was an aspect of the substantial unemployment rate that he experienced by the people of Tanzania. Through a dam-building project, it was one of the chances that local people had got to have a hustle for themselves. People in Tanzania tended to seek jobs through word of mouth rather than application letters that Jones was familiar with. He had to simulate himself to the system and help the local man have a job so that it can improve community development and reduce community factors that result in theft. Thus, Jones made mentioning openings to local people, interviewing, and hiring the relatives they recommended. Jones reasoned with family connections that could come hand needing their people to be fetched for recruiting. The hiring of niece and nephews of high ranked custom officers was an added advantage to him when it came to the specification of importation and clearance at the port. Therefore, National culture is vital for the development of community projects.

Leadership

Leadership is a practiced skill that encompasses leading other people, organizations, or a nation. Jones was set up by HG organization to oversee the dam construction in Tanzania, his skills and ability would be shown when he makes decisions that would affect both the organization and community that he is working with. The provision of outstanding skills is important as Jones ensures that all mechanisms are working out for the better of the construction. When the leadership is the week, there is little that could be done in an organization since there will be low conservative policies that will be made for better operations of the organization.

The philosophy of the organization is upheld by the leadership so that they can be able to propel the vision and mission of the organization (Holden, at el 2015). Jones had an understanding of the founder CEO, Lawrence Berkeley, who had been a key element in shaping HG’s vision, mission, and culture. Leaders make the full representation of the organization and ensure subordinates have full responsibility for making and implementing decisions, and they have to be held accountable for the results of the organization. Through this method, the organization, through its leadership, will be able to provide exactly what the community wants.

Ethics and CSR

Ethics is a moral principle that governs an individual or a group of people or how they should conduct themselves. Ethical CSR brings assurance to clients that their interests are part of the organization’s values, and it helps create a sound relationship within the stakeholders and clients for long term survival and development. Jones involved the community in decision making and ensured that they were part of the development of the dam. This way, they were able to make correct decisions and have a consensus on issues that pertained to the dam and its progress in development (Stahl, at el 2017). The community was assured of the complete benefit of the dam, starting with employment opportunities during the construction face and other businesses that were being conducted around the site.

It is said through the theory of ethics and CSR the needs of the client should be put first at the dashboard of the organization since customers are the main stakeholders of the firm (Tjosvold, 2017). It is unethical not to involve the customer voice in the decision making of the organization. The involvement is paramount in ensuring that all aspects of the organization are met. Leadership, together with subordinate staff, should make decisions and follow up on the result. The end product of the decisions and moves that are taken by the organization should be put into consideration all aspects before they can be implemented.
