Liebestraum No. 3 Love Dream composed by Franz Liszt

Liebestraum is program music composed by Franz Liszt. It is in the genre called Lieder, which means a song in the German language, and i retrieved it from the following link https://youtu.be/IKfe1TtBd6w?t=50.  The music got published in 1850. It portrayed Liszt’s romantic and program music. The music was a key example of program music, and it was derived from the various poem which had a firm reference to love and death. However, our music of interest was from poem number 3.

Liszt was born in the kingdom of Hungary empire, modern-day Austria, in 1811. He was one of the classical Hungarian Viutoso and composer. His father, who was an officer in prince palace, raised Liszt from there. The most exciting part of the Liszt music career is that he demanded attention by force.

Later, Liszt’s music career got influenced by the likes of Adam Liszt, who used to visit his father’s residence. At the age of five, Liszt was very interested in the piano, something which prompted his father to train him on how to use the keyboard. He also developed an interest in music. He began to compose songs at the age of eight and made the first public appearance a year later in Slovakia. His performance impressed many people, including the Slovakian tycoons, who offered to support him in musical education. During his time in Weimer, he composed his favorite song commonly known as Liebestraum (German), which in English is “Dreams of Love.” Liszt was a highly respected, innovative artist and a legend in his lifetime. Franz Liszt the most celebrated pianist and the most influential instrument teacher that ever lived. He is also remembered for his generosity and support that he extended to other contemporary composers.

Liszt applied a symphonic or tone poem in his concert music. These poems are different in that it is intended to inspire listeners to consider scenes, specific ideas, and moods. An example, Liszt uses the concept of dreams to pass the love message to his listeners. This music intended to inspire listeners, which was a way of romanticism, which encouraged literacy associations in music. This symphonic poem is part of very closely interrelated works. Liszt sought to expand single movements work beyond the concert form, something which he succeeded.

Liszt has organized his poems into cazdenas as they help him to express his feelings for hope. The first part talks about being in a dream. The second part tells a coming into real life, that is coming out of the idea, while the last sections of the poem transit from the dream to real life. It just reminds us that life is fragile, but its worth to take a risk about it. This third Liebestraum is very interesting as it emphasizes that love extends beyond death.  I choose this song as it’s a passionate reminder to live and love as much as you can. It also reminds us that life in this world is temporally, but love lasts forever. As i conclude, i am compelled to find this piece as one of the most inspiring songs composed in the past
