Discuss an accomplishment, event, or realization that sparked a period of personal growth and a new understanding of yourself or others.

As a child, I always heard, “Don’t worry about relationships, focus on your grades. Your grades now in high school will determine your life. I miss being young with no responsibility.” and many more. I heard them from the adults in my life. It seemed as if they all made the same mistakes and choices they regret and would like to change. They wanted me to take advantage of the opportunity I have at hand to do much better than they did and not feed into the things that seem cold or fun at the time. To not skip school and to not do the bare minimum to get by in school. To not allow our time to be wasted in relationships, no matter how tempting it may be. But instead, to take advantage of school and use it to get a free education, to not chase girls and set me up in life to be so successful, they chase me. To learn early that faith is my substance and root of all good, not money.

So immediately, with this realization, I changed. I was starting middle school. I focused on school wholeheartedly. I pushed myself even harder in football. I didn’t feed into the childish meaningless relationships. I did things I didn’t want to do. I told my best friends that I couldn’t be best friends with them anymore because I’m on a different path, and I didn’t want to go down the path they were going down as a middle schooler. I was walking a path blinded by the results, just in faith that it would benefit me in the long run. And sooner than expected, I started to see results. I became a straight-A student, and I became an all American in football. I got invited to the National Young Leaders State Conference, where I met great people and learned much about what makes a leader. My parents were insanely proud of me, and with knowing that, why would I stop? With the temptations and tests in life, remaining focused was and is not at all easy. However, trying never hurt. Now here I am, a student with a 3.25 GPA, heavily recruited football player more focused than ever. I push myself to stay at the course and remain focused. I take pride in being different. I take pride in staying in my lane.

This all has sparked a level of personal growth for me. I’ve matured faster by taking this approach. I’ve been able to assist people and help others accel past obstacles in their individual lives. I’ve learned more about my weaknesses and strengths as a person. I’ve taken the initiative to help others and motivate them to do the same, so when they grow up, they won’t have regrets and wishes to have focused more in high school to have managed their time better. Motivate people to take advantage of what adults in our lives tell us. In that realization, you’ll go through periods of personal growth. Admit me in your school, and I will motivate others to bring a sense of leadership and success to your school.
