key influencers in my formative years

There have been various key influencers in my formative years whether it was my birth and parentage, country or filial affiliations, peer group interactions, faculty and mentor relationship, or the ‘bigger picture’ of growing up in a swiftly changing competitive environment. I ascribe each and every key influencer to be of great value to what I was in the past, what I am today and what will I be tomorrow. Being born & brought up in a traditional Hindu family in India, I am conservationist of culture & conventional moorings and also open to modern-day thought of a fast unified world. The one where the pluralistic cultural existence is becoming a norm and inclusivity, diversity and a scientific temper alongside a rational approach is defining the contours of one economic order across the globe.

My schooling has been ultra-modern that helped me acquire the finesse of learning mathematics, science and humanities in equal measures until my high school. My millennial consciousness has invariably brought me face to face with technology. The subjects studied in the junior high school laid the foundation of my academic, personal & professional goals enabling me to make an informed choice of physics, chemistry, maths and computer science. This combination of subjects paved my way for the building of a robust edifice in the expression of logical & analytical abilities, reasoning & numerical problem-solving skills, principally stimulating my interest in the STEM fields. My proclivity towards a balanced, well-rounded education made me demonstrate scholastic excellence and a certain degree of extraordinariness in beyond the classroom activities.

The power of technology has allured me since childhood and has delved me completely into the field of computer science. In 5th grade, I got exposed to the world of programming that appeared difficult & monotonous initially but with gradual engrossment, I found myself in an ocean of knowledge which captivated me.

I started learning basic computer languages and progressively moved onto the advanced languages, taking a dip into the enormous field of website development by learning specialized languages such as ASP.NET, C#, Java, JQuery, CSS, JavaScript and SQL Server. I moved on interning with Hybrid Idea, which works for specially-abled, which strengthened my skills in this field. Gradually I got exposure to the spectrum of Computer Vision & Machine Learning that I am still striving hard to craft out my innovative ideas through exploring projects. Additionally, I got involved in research related to various technologies such as the Internet of Things, Cloud computing etc. My proactive involvement with, The Indus Entrepreneurs (TIE) made me appreciate the significance of thinking differently, exploring disrupting technologies and bearing in mind the value propositions attached to a business model with clear revenue generations stream and above all, being a winner by tapping latent opportunities in face of apparent adversities. I was a student scholar and a leader in several of the sessions that brought me face to face with software engineers, technology thinkers, industry captains and business tycoons. Moreover, my participation in events like Hackathons and technology fests organised under the auspices of technical universities honed my applied hands-on skills.

Since the qualitative parameters benchmarked in UK universities are defined well; the faculty staff and students have to measure up to the expectations at all times. I am thrilled at the prospect of acquiring the combination of hard and soft skills at one of the world-class institutions in the UK by aiming for a Major in Computer and Information Sciences. Moreover, I look forward to leveraging the cardinal points of UK education namely unrivalled research facilities, diversity in the student population, openness and flexibility in curriculum, and a truly globalised study system followed in Higher education.
