My SMART goal
My SMART goal is to avoid eating high-calorie food, eating plenty of vegetables and fruits as well as doing regular exercise. I have managed to achieve part of my weekly goals. I increased my vegetables and fruit intake. I took fruits every morning for the last four days and every evening during the previous five days. I have also managed to jog for almost one kilometer for three days in the previous week. I can, therefore, say that I achieved my SMART goal through motivation. The need to stay fit played a critical role in motivating me.
I thought that jogging is tiresome. I strained the second day, but I felt that because it was my first day. The soreness of my muscles discouraged me from jogging the second day. I felt also like the results would not appear as quickly as I expected and that it would be a long journey and sacrifice to achieve my goals. I focussed on the benefits despite the negative thoughts. Concentrating on the positive thoughts made me feel that the suffering is temporal, and at the end of the day, I will have enough time to relax. The benefits were, therefore, more than the negative thoughts.
Self-efficacy played a vital role in motivating me to achieve my SMART goal. Mastery of experience increased my self-efficacy, and I feel that I have lost some weight. I realized that exercising a week thrice is not as difficult as people may put it. All that I need is starting and getting motivated. Exercising alongside a friend makes jogging in the morning more interesting and fun. That is how I have achieved my SMART goal this week.
