My identity
I am a person who believes that a background greatly shapes the character and behavior of an individual. Childhood experiences and lessons shape a person’s personality in many ways. I was born in a family of an African American origin and brought in a way that discipline was a necessity. My parents saw it good to bring up children with high discipline as it is one way to shape up personality with great leadership skills and a good character. As I grew up, making things right became part of me. I was obsessed with perfection in every way and always wanted to be on the right side of things. When it came to school, I was a sharp student; I did my work perfectly and ensured that I did not brush shoulders with the authority at school.
I undertook my roles as assigned in school and also performed my chores well at home. I liked it when other people did the right things. I could not understand just why others had to break simple school rules and believed they had to get punished for it. The school bestowed upon me many leadership positions. I was able to perform well without discrimination or fear. From a young age, I possessed leadership qualities such as honesty, confidence, commitment and good communication skills.
My spiritual background shaped my character in many great ways. The honesty in me and a positive attitude could be traced back to my Mormon Christianity community. Church helps to create a person that is acceptable in the society and molds a character that is admirable. The Bible has teachings that help in greater lengths change a person’s way of thinking and decision-making. It has made me a critical thinker and I have made wiser decisions pertaining to my life, my family and those around me. Church has helped me got through a lot of my difficult childhood experiences and has created a stronger and responsible person in me.
There are other experiences in my life that I cannot forget, at a tender age, I lost my father. The word seemed to have turned around and I had a difficult time getting past it. I had to be strong and pull myself together because life had to go on. This experience contributed to changes in my character. It made me a stronger person, I learned that life gives and takes and therefore we have to make the best out of it. We have to live life to achieve our goals and making the world a better place so when we will be no more, our legacy becomes a permanent thing and others can live by it. I have since then, worked on making myself a better person, by doing so; I have created the personality with great responsibility for their actions and always want the best out of whatever they do.
My life experiences have accumulatively brought up a leader who can make wiser choices, is a critical thinker, is responsible, always work to make things better and has a positive attitude. I can clearly achieve my goals with such great inspirational character and create better person tomorrow. The leadership qualities I possess can make me bring ideas that will change things for the better. For we know that the world is built with ideas and not just any but great ideas.
