Comparison and Contrast Between Pic 1 You and me Standing while the Shark Stalking and Pic 3 Imna Aroyo

This is a comparison between the first image, and the third image.

The first picture is a painting of a man and a woman who seem to be having a conversation while leaning on what looks like the walls of a cave. They are both holding eye masks which they are hiding behind their backs using the other hand that isn’t supporting them on the wall. On the ground, is a snake coming from the lady’s side and looks like its going to bite the gentleman. Both of them seem to be unaware of the snake. In their background, is another picture, or rather painting that has the image of a water body, possibly a lake, a boat sailing, and a beautiful sunset.

The third picture is a picture of a painting that seems to be hanging on either the walls of a museum, archives or just a general art gallery. The painting is subdivided into four sections each of which has a man or men who seem to be those of the ancient times. The first section has three people all of whom seem to be focusing on something as indicated by the two parallel light like lines from their eyes pointing to the same direction. The second section has one person who has his arms stretched out as if reaching out for something. The third section has three people all of who seem to also be focusing on something in the same direction. The last three sections each have eight people who are also looking in the same direction as those in the first three. The background of this painting is that of a blue sky with a little bit of light clouds. In this second picture, it also looks like the people are halfway immersed into a water body.

The two pictures have in common the aspects that they both have backgrounds of nature, specifically nature involved with the sky and heavenly bodies. For example a beautiful sunset in the first picture and a cloudy sky in the second picture. Both pictures also have aspects of ancient characteristics, for instance, the location of the first picture seems to be a cave while the second one could either be a museum, archives or just a general ancient art gallery. Both pictures have water bodies in the background, both of which could be lakes.

There is a difference in the two pictures in that, the first picture looks like a modern setting, illustrated by the dressing of the people in the picture while the second one is definitely ancient. The people in the first picture are not aware that there is danger around them posed by the snake which could bite any of them. The people in the second picture seem to know that they are in danger and are looking out in the direction where they can get help from.

I would prefer the activities in the first picture for the reason that, these are two people who are living in the moment, completely oblivious of the danger around them. Besides, it is not a guarantee that the snake will bite them. It could be  just minding its own business and if not rattled, it has no business biting anyone. I do not prefer the second picture because, those people in it are just likely to drown without getting any help. It is a painting that shows negativity and pessimism.
