Social Justice/Pledge in Schools

Social justice in schools is concerned with the distribution of benefits and burdens among students. Social justice education is aimed at achieving quality and equitable education for all students. It calls for full and equal participation by all stakeholders to make the set goals. The ministry of education is trying all its best to achieve social justice by all means. Social cohesion should be prioritised by our political leaders to ensure high-quality education is offered and solve social injustice. The modern engines of social justice are free schools set by the ministry. Another matter of social justice in schools is social justice. The purpose of this essay is to provide opinions on what should be done to incorporate social justice in schools via the education system

Discrimination of any kind should be discouraged to enhance social justice in schools. All pupils should be treated equally regardless of their colour or background. There should be no alienation for teaching and learning of those poor pupils in wealthy schools. Teachers should ensure all pupils are treated equally when it comes to access to education and other services. The ministry of education recruits the best teachers who can understand the disadvantaged pupils better to embed social justice in schools. There should be no room for a poor high-ability pupil to be overtaken by a wealthier low-ability pupil. It takes an excellent teacher with cultural competence to solve and eradicate this problem in schools. Bullying of pupils from a poor background is the major problem in many schools. Headteachers should put the necessary policies that can protect such students from promoting social justice. All teachers have the responsibility of challenging humiliating rules that demean students in schools.

The ministry of education is battling to reduce social injustice in schools. This is posing a lot of problems because of poverty in some families. Some students are living in slums. Overcrowding is the major problem experienced, and it becomes difficult for such students to revise at home during holidays due to noise pollution. Other pupils live in unhealthy housings where garbage is dumped, and diseases like cholera infect them. Other pupils go through sleepless nights due to hunger. They only depend on the little food provided in schools due to poverty. Children cannot learn in schools without proper nutrition and save housing. The national government should ensure that all families are living in robust shelters by providing cheap houses in those areas. Relief food should also be provided to solve the problem of hunger.

There is the problem of inadequate infrastructure, which is hindering access to free schools by some students. Some of them walk for long distance to reach school. Roads are in poor conditions when it rains, and access to education becomes a problem. The ministry of education is pushing the national government to ensure the development of infrastructure. Roads from those areas are being repaired to ensure all pupils can walk to and from schools without challenges. Allocation of funds to the ministry of education should be increased to ensure development in schools.

I believe that education is the civil rights issue of our generation. And if you care about promoting opportunity and reducing inequality, the classroom is the place to start. Excellent teaching is about so much more than education; it is a daily fight for social justice.” (Arne Duncan 2009). This education quote elaborates on the importance of education in fighting the problem of social injustice. It all starts in the classroom. Great teachings are encouraged to promote the opportunity of reducing social inequity. Anne brings it clear that education is a civil right for all children in America.

Conclusion

It is the responsibility of all stakeholders in the ministry of education to emanate social justice. All pupils should serve equally without discrimination. Bursaries should be offered to needy students to enable access to education. Headteachers should ensure the ministry recruits, competent teachers. The national government should ensure development in infrastructure in all parts of the country to ensure all children have access to free schools.
