Reflection Question: How Culture, Disparities of Health, and Health Equity, are Relates to Public Health Field?
Culture is a type of symbolic text where behavior, substances together with beliefs of human being interrelate together in some ongoing dramatic production which presents issued and the notion of definition of a specific society. Health disparities are defined as the gap that is there when accessing health services in different populations. Health disparities occur as a result of inadequate education, low income, poor housing, unhealthy environment, mortality rate, lack of health insurance, morbidity, among other factors.
Health equality is defined as social justice, where all the patients are given regular health care despite their differences in terms of capability to pay for medical expenses. Finally, public health is defined as a vital role within the health equity movement. It is meant to ensure there is equality and that all services needed by the patient are conducted smoothly.
The definitions of the three terms have a connection with the public health field. First, culture is among the main determinants of the field of public health. This shows that for the public hospitals to be conducted successfully, they must consider the cultures of the people. Different cultures have different beliefs on health, and therefore health institutions should consider all people’s lifestyles as a way of creating equality in the hospitals. People from different diversity have different perspectives on health. Don't use plagiarised sources.Get your custom essay just from $11/page
Health disparities is a term that is used to show how the health sector is not conducted in an equal manner. It shows that patients are treated according to what they have and who they are. For instance, the article indicates that people are well educated, those whose income is better and they are living in better places they tend to get better health, they go to the most expensive hospital that has the most qualified doctors.
Therefore what happens to the fewer fortunes family? They suffer a lot, they no longer get the best health care treatment, and in most cases, they never visit the health centers because they cannot cater for their medical bills. However, the creation of public hospitals plays a significant role as it helps in treating all the people regardless of their background. The public health field ensures that all people get the best services, all medication is available, and they provide free medicines to all people.
Health equity is a term that is used to show balance in the health sector. It explains that public health always ensures there is equality when they are giving out their services without considering who they are treating. Hospitals are among the field that justice should still be practiced since it is a non-profit organization, and nothing employees are expecting to get from patients but instead provide them with a better service. This term should always be exercised with or without favor because this is the lives of people doctors are saving, and their aims should be to make people live a better experience with good health.
I support that the three terms relate to the field of public health; this is because it must first consider that we have all come from different cultures and so we have a different way of practicing health. Public health should also let people express their opinion concerning the services they are providing. Second, the gap in hospitals should be eliminated because many people today are dying because they do not have any income not only for their medication but also for their basic things, which is very wrong.
The government, in connections with well-wishers, should reduce this gap by creating job opportunities to the less fortunate families so that they can be able to cater to their needs. The government should also provide short courses to the students who cannot afford to join the University and college to make them starting earning and stop depending on their relatives. Finally, the health equality should be practiced in all areas, the public hospitals and all health sectors should be at the forefront line of ensuring that there is equality in health sectors so at to bring balance among all people.
I feel that this work was essential to me because my future career is to become a doctor by professional. I have desired to give out the best services to all human beings without any discrimination, regardless of their differences. Having read this reading, I have gathered a lot of information that I need to exercise in the future. First, in my career as a doctor, I will ensure that I will consider all cultures, how they wish to be treated, and maybe to be able to listen to what they like in my services and what they don’t like. I will ensure that, in my small way, I have been able to reduce the gap between the rich and the poor by giving them equal treatment.
Finally, I will ensure that equality is mainly practiced in public hospitals and all the health sectors I will be working. I will ensure that no one is treated better than the other one, either the management, workers or even the patients to me; they will all be equal. I will also ensure that the medicines are always available, and the hospital is still in the right condition.Having read this material, I feel challenged that in the future, I will do the best, and I will provide the best services than any other doctor has ever offered.
