Personal Experience
Jeffrey Stevenson joined VSS immediately after graduating from Rutgers College, where he studied economics. He felt that he was ready to take up a role in management after leaving college. Getting a chance to work for his first job proved as an opportunity for him to prove his worth and practice what he had learned in college. At the time when the firm was starting, it had about 100 employees. However, by the time he was named partner in 2001, the company had made tremendous growth in all areas. Between 1987 and 2006, the company mainly ran private equity funds and investment-banking activities. His responsibilities had shifted from managing and investing funds when he was President to managing the overall operations in the firm when he was a partner. Over time focus has shifted from media into education, information, technology-enabled services, and healthcare. Jeffrey Stevenson advises those joining the industry to take time and understand what makes businesses tick.
The Company’s Portfolio
The companies that seek the services of VSS are either rejuvenating a business model or introducing a new technological approach. The company has built a portfolio that is market by famous companies. For instance, it has managed to advise on the exit options for firms that range between $250 million and $ 500 million. Jeffrey Stevenson has proposed to grow the company into one of the top companies in New York City.
