Cons of Eating junk foods

Junk food is foods with no or low nutritional value to the user. Pre-prepared foods are generally cooked before the client places an order. These foods include fried chicken, pizza, burger, and tacos. Packed junk foods are prepared by organizations and filled in tins, wrapped, placed in containers, and treated with preservers so that they last for a more extended period. Examples of packed junk foods are snacks, cakes, carbonated drinks, candies, gum, and chocolate. Junk food has widely been adopted across the world because they are cheap and convenient for most consumers.

Eating junk foods is not a healthy way to sustain our bodies. Generally, junk foods are not a better option if one is to choose what to include in the diet. The consequences of eating junk food and having a sedentary life are obesity. Obesity causes several complications in the body, such as increased levels of cholesterol in the body, obstructing the arteries. It also increases the risks of coronary illnesses and causes physical discomfort due to the added weight.

As junk foods are addictive, it is hard to leave the fatty foods and carbonated drinks such as sodas and switch to taking more healthy foods. That is why it is not advisable to include junk foods in our diet. Moreover, junk foods contain too many fats, and excess fats in our body cause people to put on the extra weight and become obese. On the other hand, healthy foods contain the required nutrients such as vitamins, low sodium, minerals, balanced chemical flavors, and healthy oils.

Junk foods contain high levels of calories and less useful minerals, and it usually gets calories from saturated fats. Additionally, junks contain too much salt compared to balanced foods and are not suitable for the heart. Moreover, high levels of fats found in junk foods cause deposits of lipids to the liver, which leads to liver dysfunction over time. Sugar is an essential component in junk foods since it makes them taste good. Carbonated sodas, biscuits, and cakes all have too much sugar. However, excess sugar makes people overweight, causes tooth decay, and is not suitable for the blood.

Junk foods can cause diabetes. Continuous consumption of junks leads to the accumulation of high levels of sugar in the body that can predispose one to type two diabetes. This arises because too much intake of sugar stresses metabolism in the body; taking too much-refined sugar and carbohydrates cause the body to increase the production of insulin to avert a spike in the levels of blood sugar. Since junk foods do not have proteins that are required by the body to maintain steady levels of blood sugar as needed by the body, the levels of sugar in the blood drops drastically after taking junk foods. The body will crave sugar, and one will end up taking too much. This causes stress and damage to the ability of the body to utilize the insulin produced by the pancreas. Choosing a healthy diet is essential to the body since it helps in maintaining insulin sensitivity in the body. Even in the short-term, consuming too many junks can make one be uncomfortable. It causes constipation, mood swings, and low energy levels such that a person will lose interest in engaging in exercises that can allow them to burn more calories.

Junk foods contribute to poor performance. Junks contain excess fats, and once fats accumulate in the body, one gains weight. The more weight is added, the higher the risks of contracting dangerous illnesses such as arthritis, heart diseases. Junks also can cause high blood pressure and hypertension due to high levels of sodium and fats in junk foods. Too much sodium has a negative effect on renal function and can lead to kidney infections. Excess fats also affect cognitive functions. The body feels tired, and one finds it hard to concentrate since there is no adequate supply of oxygen.

Nonetheless, despite the harmful effects of consuming junk foods, the consumption is still high and is increasing by leaps and bounds each day. Most people prefer junk food since it is attractive. Food vendors use manipulation to entice people to buy junk foods. Additionally, preparing junk foods is easy. It takes less time and does not require too many nutritious ingredients. Actually, junk foods consist of excess oils or sugar.

Additionally, junk foods are considered by many to be reasonable. It is cheap and does not require many materials. The pricing is fair, and this is why most people buy often. Moreover, junk foods can be accessed these days easily. Several fast-food joints have sprung up, and various applications have been developed. With just a simple tap, one can order any food they like. Therefore, it is much easier to access junk food right to the doorstep.

Although most people understand the negative effect of consuming junk foods, they still consume them nonetheless. Each year, junk food businesses reap more and more cash as many people in the country become more obese. Fast food joints have been set up in virtually every corner, and people are slowly making themselves unhealthy each passing day. If this trend continues, then it is a severe downhill mark for future generations. It is essential to stop the consumption of junk food for several reasons.

First, eating junk food is addictive. The more one consumes junk foods, the more they become addicted. For example, sugars are addictive, and if one is used to consuming the stuff frequently, they risk experiencing withdrawal symptoms. Secondly, junk foods are the leading cause of obesity across the world. Third, junk foods are poisonous since they contain harmful ingredients that are poisonous to the body and have low nutrient value. Nonetheless, some people prefer junk food because they think it is reasonable, cheap, and easily accessible. With various fast food joints being setup left right and center, while apps are being developed to push sales, people find it easier to access junk foods. However, regardless of the advantages, people associate with consuming junk foods, they are not suitable for your health. Junk food predisposes people to various diseases. Hence, consumption of junk foods should be stopped immediately, and people taught on the adverse effects of consuming junk.
