Film Critical Review
The Endless is an interesting film directed by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead. The storyline was written by Justin Benson and composed by Jimmy Lavalle. The main actors are Justin Benson, Moorhead, Tate Ellington and Callie Hernandez. I chose this film because the names of the directors are also enlisted in the cinematography which makes it common as one of the most popular student films. The film is about two men who had fled from a certain cult and they decide to go back. Some plots in the film are unnecessarily repeated. This is depicted in the plot that one of the two brothers finally gets the answers to what he yearned for and on the other brother also given the same explanation in another scene hence replicating the narrative (Reilly, Kara 28, 2018). Another critical aspect of the film comes out when the runtime of scenes is extended by creating conflict.
The roles of the two working actors is to bring out their protagonist nature by sending a quiver of terror to the audience. The two brothers are believable in their roles because through their acting they provide suffices of the film narrative (Novak, Elaine, 32, 1985). Nevertheless Moorhead and Benson play the roles in directing, acting, screenwriting, producing, editing and cinematography. They have become an inspiration to other filmmakers who are upcoming in the industry. Thought the history of the film the technical imperfections experienced in poor grading of color slowly becomes the style and charm of the film (Meyer-Dinkgräfe, Daniel, 24, 2001). The film disturbing images in the movie also satisfy the intrigued audience who are thrilled by violence. Moreover, the film is easily accessible for conventional audiences unlike metaphorical portions.
Acting styles are many but most of them are widely acclaimed and established by the film. Modern acting for instance as portrayed by The Endless reveals most of the principles of acting which were identified by Konstantin Stanislavski who was commonly known as the “Father of modern acting”. This can be depicted in the film through the technique of using actors past in creating different characters. The difference in character also brings about conflict in the narrative (Crawford, Catherine and Michael 42, 1985). The audience is also contribute much in the filmmaking process and success. This because the audience changed from simply loving a movie but the stars who were good actors as well. Approaches to modern actor training are well depicted by the film. Stanislavski introduced the tool of using emotional memory that entailed situations from an actor’s own life during acting. The reason for this tool was to arouse an emotional response that is genuine.
There are also differences between stage acting and camera acting. Ideally many actors find it difficult to transcend the two but the two brothers unitarily responds well to the two. Considering the plot that shows their movements from one place to the other. The transition can also be seen by comparing what the audience is told in the story and what actually happens in the film. All performances are superb on stage (Aebischer, and Kathryn Prince, 13, 2012)
Conclusion
In summary, “The Endless’ is an interesting film that has various filmmaking tips and lessons both to the audience and the upcoming filmmakers as well. The fact that the two brothers managed to do actors and the rest of the filmmaking process is exemplary to those who have little funds. Acting styles are also well portrayed by the actors in the film making the film a scholarly tool.
