Research interests and professional objectives in the study of educational leadership and policy
My research interests in the study of educational leadership and policy are finding out the relationship between the different departments in an organization and how the relationships affect the productivity of the staff. Furthermore, the research will include how the relationship between employees of different ranks affects their overall performance. The study will serve many organizations because their human relations departments will understand deeper the importance of good relations between various departments in their organizations. Also, the research will serve the purpose of indicating the types of relationships between employees of different ranks in an organization and how each tie affects productivity.
My professional objectives in the study of educational leadership and policy are to introduce effective team management strategies that will not only develop but also retain top-notch productivity. In an attempt to serve as many organizations as I can, I intend to utilize my skills as a private consultant. In this line of profession, my skills will not be limited to one company; instead, they will be available to every organization that seeks my services.
I have served as human resources and recruiting expert with more than ten years of comprehensive human resources experience including recruitment, retention and workforce management. In my professional experience, I observed that the different departments in an organization are inter-dependent and their performance affects the overall performance. As such, how the various departments relate to each other is crucial for increased productivity. Therefore, I observed that it is essential for staff to understand the different roles of various departments. For instance, when the production and marketing departments understand the distinct roles of each other, the team will work to achieve their goals effectively to ensure the other departments also meet their goals too. Regarding the relationship between employees of different ranks and productivity, I observed that poorly maintained relationships between the senior and junior staff directly impacts productivity. Intimidating relations result in reduced productivity whereas supportive connections facilitate excellent productivity. Regarding my professional experiences, I would like to conduct academic research to support my observations.
My professional goal is to open a human resource consultancy firm. I chose a consultancy firm because that way, I would not be restricted to serve only one organization but different ones that need human resource management. Furthermore, I will implement different leadership and human resource tactics that will not only enable the organizations to acquire maximum employee productivity but also give me a chance to gain further experience in my field of expertise.
I plan to achieve my goal by first acquiring a Ph.D. degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. The Ph.D. degree will enable me to conduct research that will play a significant role in my professional goal. Besides, I plan to further my experience by studying the trends of renowned human resource consultancy firms. In the study, I will analyze their strategies and how they implement, a move that will help me understand the actual field before I open my firm.
I expect that the Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at the University of Denver will support your research interests and professional objectives because their curriculum integrates leadership, systems and design thinking, policy, and research. Such are the skills that are required to achieve excellence in my field of expertise.
Statement of equity, ethics and social justice
Equity in education means that there is fairness in achieving educational potential regardless of any personal or social circumstances. I believe that fair and inclusive education is desirable because it gives all people a fair chance to fully develop their capacities in gaining skills as well as the knowledge necessary in the career world. When equity in education gets achieved, more people get a chance to influence their life chances in employment opportunities which directly affect their standards of living.
A non-inclusive education system facilitates the rise of poverty levels in society. Equity in education ensures a positive contribution to society and the economy. An inclusive education system narrows social divide because the majority of society gets equipped with the necessary skills for success in the modern world. As such, such a system lowers poverty levels and increases social cohesion by bridging the gaps between the different societal classes.
Ethics in education as vital because they dictate what is wrong or right in the system. The ethics ensure that the education system runs smoothly by protecting the interests of the educators and the learners. I believe that ethics in education play a significant role in shaping the morals of the future generation as well as guiding the educators on what morals to follow as they educate students.
For the educators, ethics in education requires them to exercise patience to all students despite their learning capabilities. If educators we to favor sure students, equity in school would not get achieved. As such, educators are expected to understand that different students have different learning capabilities and they have to help all students reach their potential by practicing fairness.
Furthermore, ethics in education requires all students to respect their educators and abide by their rules. It is common knowledge that all educators have a higher level of education than their students. As such, I believe that for students to succeed, they must respect their instructors and follow their directives. In that spirit, the students are bound to acquire academic integrity as well as self-discipline.
I believe that education is a powerful weapon that can change the world. As such, social justice in education requires that all bright and deserving students are given a chance to reach their potential. There are several instances where students from low-income families got left behind by other students from wealthy families because they did not have resources to pursue their educational goals.
I believe that such social injustice poses a threat to the economy of a country since a considerable percentage of talented students get deprived of the chance to thrive. I believe that lowering tuition fees is not the only means of achieving social justice in education. Learning institutions should ensure that no students get discriminated on the grounds of race, ethnicity, gender or religion. I believe that social justice in education is the second step, after equity in school, to bridging the gaps between societal classifications. Social justice in education will give many students a chance to become successful as they get equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills.
In my academic experience, I witnessed many students drop out of school because they could not afford the high tuition fees. However, when some received tuition scholarships, they got the chance to complete their studies just like their colleagues who could provide the costs. Therefore, I strongly recommend all institutions to level the ground for all students to avoid locking out highly talented and bright students.
