Introduction
This paper discusses main the similarities and differences in character in Aristotle and slave Daos. Both the two works show and talk more about slave trade which used to happen during the 17th and the 18th century. How slave trade took place and the effects of it to humanity. This paper shows the similarities and some of the differences in the both of the two works and will also show the roles that the slaves played. The slave Daos mainly talks of moral concepts and also the importance of social intercourse, hospitality, kindness and social intercourse (Yu et al, 2016).
In the play of Daos the characters show different levels of philanthropy. The first kind of philanthropy shown in the play by the characters is excess friendliness which is presented by minor characters. The second level of philanthropy which is the said to be the best is shown by Knemon’s antagonist, Gorgias and Sostratos while Sostratos got a pleasing character, Gorgias displays the foundation of virtues. Aristotle on the other side illustrates the happy life that a man should live according to nature when one lives according to virtues. In this part the tries to describe the roles politics and the political society should play in passing the virtuous life that is needed in a country.(Hajchristos et al, 2015) Don't use plagiarised sources.Get your custom essay just from $11/page
Aristotle
This book talks much about politics and ethics. Aristotle believes that ethics and politics are two inter connected things and politics and politicians can help in shaping the moral ethics of a community. Specifically, his opinions on the connection between the political safety of a society and that of a country’s citizen who make up the population of the country believes that the all citizens of a country must participate in the politics of their country if they want to be happy and to have a country with the right morals. The participation will help in shaping the moral of the country which will later translate to a happy and the right moral ethics of a country.
Aristotle being a political scholar gives some interesting parts of his philosophy about politics. In order to understand the politics of Aristotle it is important to read and comprehend work about ethics by Nicomachean.(Yu et al, 2016) Aristotle believes that politics and ethics are interconnected and that ethical and morals of life can only be available to someone who actively participates in politics and he also believes that moral education is the major drive of the political society.
Similarities between Aristotle and slave Dao
Dao believes that the best way of living is to live according to the rules of nature. He believes that when one lives in agreement with nature then one will be happy and morally upright. Living according to nature means that one is responsible of what nature provides. Nature allows governance and therefore this means that politics is part of nature and participating in politics will make the citizens of a country happy and morally upright. Aristotle in his philosophy has the same believes as Dao when it comes to nature.
Aristotle believes that the moral ethics of a nation will depend on whether the citizens are actively participating in politics or not. He believes that when citizens participate in the politics of their country then they are likely to live a happy life with good mortal ethics as compared to a country where they do not participate.(Hadjichristos et al, 2015) Those two believes between the two writer have similarities when it comes to nature, happiness, and the moral ethics of a country.
The other similarity between Dao and Aristotle is the fact that they both were against slave trade. Aristotle and Dao believe that people in county should live happily with each other and should have good morals. This is due to the participation in politics according to Aristotle and a living according to the rule of nature according to Dao.
Differences
The differences between the two philosophers are clearly shown by the way the two of them reason in terms of nature and the integrity of human kind. Dao who is very the East believes just the way most of the people mostly the Chines believe. This believes are mostly influenced by different cultures in different parts of the world.
In the East they believe in the metaphysics of ethics while in the western were Aristotle came from believes in the metaphysics of nature. This means that the two have differences in the way they view nature. According to the east where Dao came from, a person is made up of reason, soul, and body, in which reasoning comes first and then one can be able to discern “symbols” in a metaphysical stage. According to Aristotle opinions, rational concepts are the core of actuality and the exceptional tool with which human beings can grasp “being as being”
Conclusion
In order to have peaceful world politics, nature and the morals of a country are very importance and should be keenly observed. All these aspects should be well balanced in order to have good moral ethics between one another. In order to have these aspects keenly observed the education which enhances the critical thinking of human beings is important which will also help in developing humans’ moral structure.
