Describe your short- and long-term career goals and how the NYU Stern Executive MBA program will help you accomplish them.
The information technology domain has always fascinated me since the day I decided to switch my domain from mechanical to IT back in the year 2000. With technology advancement, more and more Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) focused companies are switching to leverage online services – from incident management, environmental compliance, and sustainability management. Thus, I believe Environmental domain based IT services & products will be an exciting area of growth in the years to come.
When I decided to switch my domain from mechanical to information technology, I realized that I lacked Software Engineering experience and therefore decided to pursue my Masters in Computer Science in the US. The first couple of years, I worked as a Software Consultant to understand the diverse Information Technology domain and to acquire hands-on experience in programming. I was quickly promoted to Senior Application Architect/Technical Manager and then to Director in an IT services company, where I spearheaded the growth of the company’s east coast division from a few employees to a 100+ global delivery operations. In 2016, I started ByteForza Inc., an EHS based IT service business and I’m also currently working as a Technology Director for an IT small business.
My short-team goal as a co-founder of ByteForza, Inc., is to further the company’s growth and success by increasing the revenue to $50 million in the next 5 years and to increase employee strength to 1000. I plan to establish all functions such as Sales, Marketing, Accounting, Human Resources, and Program Management in my company and leverage these functions to provide quality EHS based IT services
My long term goal is to transform my EHS based IT service business into a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) based EHS product development firm with $300 million in revenue.
NYU Stern’s focus on general business management education such as Accounting, Economics, Finance, and Marketing during the first year will provide me with a firm grounding and experience to understand the business perspective and will compensate for my inexperience in these fields. The Global Study Tour – a one-week international residency will prove valuable in helping me understand other cultures and this in turn will enable me to penetrate new markets for my product in the future. The second year specialization in Strategy & Leadership will enable me to build and expand my foundational business skills. I’m especially excited to learn about “Managing Growing Companies”, “Managing Change”, and “Marketing, Planning & Strategy” courses and I believe these courses will have a direct positive impact on my company’s growth & success. This structured formal general management education coupled with specialized strategy and leadership experience I’ll acquire in NYU Stern will broaden my business perspective and give me the necessary tools & skills to leverage my IT industry experience and expand my company successfully.
NYU’s global alumni network of nearly 105,000 people in more than 125 countries around the world, can help expand my EHS software products reach in the future. NYU Stern’s unique education that combines classroom experience with engagement beyond the classroom will be in perfect alignment with my goals and help me reach my goals faster.
