Economizing Education
The education sector has undergone a lot of changes over the years. This has been to align it with the national goals. With the advancement in knowledge acquisition that is currently happening, changes in the education sector are inevitable. Economization of education plays a crucial role in improving a country’s economy. It also goes a long way to answering the vital questions in the modern world. These could be pressing problems, like environment, socio-economics, politics, and another host of issues, which include poverty, sustainable development, and climate change. Parents consider the economization of education before they have the children enrolled in any school or college. They do the calculation on what the children are going to gain in comparison to the investment made. The same thing happens with the students. They will want to consider the knowledge to be acquired in a given institution as compared to what is being put in.
In response to this demand, the government is in the business of economizing education by ensuring proper funding is being offered in these schools to promote the establishment of certain infrastructure and programs that are going to position the learners to be more competitive as they face the challenges in the world currently. A lot of money is being channeled to the learning institutions to promote programs that are geared towards science, mathematics, and technology (Strauss, 2020). These are the key areas that are likely to give learners the best skills to handle 21st challenges. The world economy is being driven by technology. It is, therefore, important for the government to invest in this area as early as now so that the country remains the leading nation in terms of innovation and knowledge provision.
Given a chance to decide on which areas the school funding should go to, the first area would be an improvement of the science laboratory. The lab should be better equipped with chemicals and apparatus that will enable the learners to acquire scientific skills (Strauss, 2020). The second area would be the improvement of the Information Technology department. This would be by buying more modern computers and software that will help the learners learn more about the current trends in technology. This will prepare the students to fit better in the technology world in which we are living in. Learners need to learn more about how to develop applications that are going to make the lives of people easier. The third area is the establishment of a research and innovation department (Martin, 2020). This is where the learners are encouraged to come up with innovations that can be actualized. The funds should go to funding these projects and assisting the learners market their ideas to the world.
Giving schools more money might not be the sole solution to solving the problems of schools. However, the availability of funds ensures that most of the problems facing the education system are catered solved. Finances will enable better content delivery for the teachers if the resources required for teaching are adequate (Martin, 2020). The learners also enjoy learning in such an environment, and this serves as a motivation for the learners. With proper funding, the administrative work becomes much easier, and the administrators are able to concentrate on the most important issues that will lead to better performance. Adequate funding, therefore, goes a long way in promoting learning and solving the problems facing the education system.
