my pursuing a career in Applied Economics and Management
Ever since I was growing up, I have always had a great passion for mathematics and having everything under my control. My passion was proven when my parents used to leave me and my sibling’s money for our maintenance. Despite being the second born, I was entrusted the mandate of how the money would be dispatched for various activities. Therefore, my parents trusted my management and arithmetic skills. Nevertheless, my passion for applied economics and management was majorly prompted during the market bubble of 2012. This was when the mortgage rates augmented to an alarming rate and most families in our neighborhood lost their homes because they could not make their mortgage payments. It was a very disheartening as most of my friends had to relocate. I took it upon myself to research what led to my friends losing their homes due to the bubble. I thoroughly watched financial and business documentaries, which turned out to be my free time hobby. I totally believed that one day I would make a difference and the most outstanding difference would come through my pursuing a career in Applied Economics and Management.
Based on the fact that Dyson School in Cornell offers a major in Applied Economics and Management, I feel that my dream is not far from being fulfilled. I aced well in my high school academic achievements and I believe that my grades meet the school’s requirements. As I fast track my career objectives I have settled on Cornell University due to its vibrant academic culture presented through my research on the institution.
After realizing that my first-year college choice was not ideal, I have undertaken upon myself to look into Dyson School and realized that it has viable class materials and it works closely with the community, which is fruitful in enhancing the skills of the students. I have gone out of my way to undertake a viable exploration of the financial markets, mortgage rates and have even talked with some of the real estate managers and hedge funds managers and some professors, which portrays my profound interest in this academic discipline. This is why I am seeking to be linked with Dyson School to polish my skills.
The program at Dyson is very demanding and students are therefore enthusiastic to match these expectations. I am no different to such students and I believe that I am not only concerned with attaining viable credentials but also learn and have a note worthy contribution to the institution and my future career aspirations of becoming a hedge risk manager. The undergraduate program at Dyson is of a collaborative nature, which indicates that the cohesion of academic students extends even beyond the classroom. I am therefore thoroughly interested in this program as well as Cornell Accounting Association, Cornell Finance Club, and other fraternities, which are business oriented. This will not only assist in augmenting my academic experience but also in bolstering lifelong friendships and career success.
I, therefore, cherish the opportunity of being part of the School as I know my success lies with the University, and I hope that you will consider and grant my application. I believe that I have a lot to learn from the University and I also believe that I have a lot to offer the university in regards to my discipline, enthusiasm, hard work and my friendly nature.
