Introduction

“Education is a gift of knowledge that cannot be stolen and can bring you to the top of your dreams.” It is one of the most valuable assets in every individual’s life. Moreover, Education is a key factor to a successful and a professional life. High school and college are both fundamental to education, which helps students to grow and enhance their lives with knowledge. However, they are two completely different worlds. The three differences aspects of high school and college are responsibilities, are academic, subjects, and instructors.

`The distinction between high school and college is responsibilities. High school students can count on their parents and teachers to tell them what to do. Parents and educators are always there to help high school students in reminding them of their academic responsibilities and provide instructions in setting their priorities. Also, high school is full of rules and regulations. If high school students behaved inappropriately, they would be punished. On the other hand, college students must balance their responsibilities.

One of the most important responsibilities for college undergraduates is time management; they have to set their priorities. In college, one will be treated like an adult because they are more mature. Unlike, high school, college does not have a lot of rules and regulations. Though, college students are expected to take responsibility along with consequences of their actions and decisions. As college students, one will face a lot of ethical and moral decisions. College students are more mature than high school students. Thus, they will have to meet greater expectations than high school students. High school students are expected to perform just at a minimum standard while college students are expected to go beyond their minimal performance, so they can develop as a person and be prepared for adulthood.

Another differentiation between high school and college is academic subjects. Classes are already arranged for high school students. Conversely, college students have to arrange their classes by consulting with their academic advisors. Course selection is somewhat standard for high school students. Though, for college students, course selection differs depending on individuals major. Classes in high school are small in size. Typically, classes in high school have an average of 40 students or less, whereas college classes can have up to more than 100 students per class. Textbook and other materials are provided for high school students by the institution. However, college students have to purchase their textbook depending on what classes they will be taking.

Throughout high school, students spend most of their time learning in classes. Therefore, high school students usually spend less time studying outside classes. College students, on the other hand, have shorter class periods. Thus, they devote more time studying outside of classes. Grading policies for classes are also different between high school and college. To graduate high school with a diploma, one must get final grades of D or greater. Conversely, to graduate from college with a degree, one must get final grades of C or higher. Testing in high school and college are also different. Testing in high school usually covers small amounts of material. Whereas testing in college often a cumulative test, which includes larger quantities of materials.

The last contrast between high school and college is the instructors. High school teachers often take their times to remind students about assignments and due dates. Nevertheless, college professors expect students to read their syllabus for what are expectations of the course. In high school lecture, teachers will write out the summarize information about their classes on the board for a student to take notes. The college professors will not summarize information doe students. They will always lecture and expect students to recognize the important points when taking notes. High school teachers will approach students who are in need of assistances. The college professor is helpful, but they expect students to initiate contact if needed assistances. Mainly, high school teachers guide students through the thinking process. College professors urged students to think critically for their own, relating to concepts learned in classes.

Conclusion

Generally from my comparison above between high school and college courses, it is totally evident that .High school course is different from college the while I was in high school I was under control of my parents and teachers, while I graduated from high school I joined college and here I make my own decisions since I have freedom to do what I want as a mature person.
