Competency-based learning
Competency-based learning is a significant scope for the employees to improve their interpersonal skills and working and learning process. It is an efficient training process that ensures learning in the training procedure. Competency and skills can be polished and reshaped in competency-based training. On the other hand, context-based learning is the promotion of more in-depth knowledge and developing the learning process for the long-term. However, both the competency-based learning and context-based learning have several weaknesses too. There are several strengths and weaknesses of competency-based training.
Strengths of competency-based training are-enabling trainees to improve both their skill and experience within the organization, allowing trainees to participate in the programs that accomplish the immediate needs of the organization and allowing the scope to the trainees to learn while working in the organization. However, Competency-based training does not satisfy the long-term lack of target customers. For example- it is impossible to maintain a long-lasting consumer relationship with companies like eBay and Home Depot. Competency-based training is not fruitful for long-term consumer relationships. Lack of flexibility is the second weakness of competency-based training. The company may fail to achieve long-term plans. Moreover, competency-based training reduces the scope of social learning.
Strengths of context-based learning are- the promotion of in-depth learning scopes, long-term knowledge development, and introduction of two-end questions. On the contrary, context-based learning fails to attain short-term learning plans, and it is a time-consuming process which requires additional monetary resource.
