Summary Article of the Role of Media
The research question of the article that guided the author in writing was, “Does the media have an impact on the vote?” The several methods of data collection included experimental studies, the use of surveys, and linkage-research techniques. Results indicated that the media played a role in swaying the minds of the voter, influencing them to vote for particular candidates. Also, journalists and politicians influence the effects in modern democracies, and evidence was found for agenda-setting, learning, and framing-effects during campaigns in the state.
The future research question that the author left in the study was the requirements needed to be explored for bringing in the improvements in the media’s influence over the vote. Looking at the advertisements, the content, and information in the media will assist in shaping what listeners and viewers are exposed to. When data is accurate, it will help in electing responsible leaders. All concerns that were addressed in the article can assist anyone in future research by chronologically well-planning their work, how to use different methods to get data, and using the most straightforward language in presenting their work.
