ICC World Test Championship series between Bangladesh and Pakistan
The 1st test match of the ICC World Test Championship series between Bangladesh and Pakistan was held on February 7, Friday, at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Pakistan. Azhar Ali was the Pakistan team test skipper while Bangladesh team was lead by Mominul Haque. The Pakistan side was looking good and dominated the Bangladesh team.
Pakistan won the toss and decided to field first. On batting first, Bangladesh collapsed and could make a total of 233 runs only. Shaheen Shah Afridi took the most 4 wickets in the 1st inning. Pakistan played brilliantly in 1st inning and put a massive total of 445 runs. Opener Shah Masood and Babar Azam scored 100 and 143 runs, respectively. Asad Shafiq and Haris Sohail scored a half-century each and helped Pakistan team to score big in 1st inning.
Pakistan was in the lead with 212 runs, and it was a very tough situation for Bangladesh team. Bangladesh players could not handle the pressure of the match and dismissed early with a disappointment to their supporters with the performance. Captain Mominul Haque scored 41 runs for Bangladesh in 2nd inning, which was the highest from the team. Youngster Naseem Shah showed pace in his bowling and took 4 wickets. Leg spinner Yasir Shah also took 4 wickets. Bangladesh could make a total of 168 runs in 2nd inning, and Pakistan won the match by an inning and 44 runs.
Pakistani seam bowler Naseem Shah was selected for the player of the match award for his 5 wickets in the match. The test match finished in only 4 days. Pakistan captain Azhar Ali praised his team and appreciated the team efforts. He congratulated players for the victory while Bangladesh captain looked tensed by team performance and promised to show a better game in the next match. Pakistan also gained good points in the ICC Test Championship standings with this victory.
