Questions of Beauty, Ugliness, Vulgarity, Or Abjection

In the modern world, the incidences of individuals committing offenses that are against the law have been increasing rapidly. As a result, offenders get to face the consequences of their actions.  Criminals receive trial and judgment of their effects by the provision of facts necessary to hold them captives. In the process of attempting to prove them guilty or not, some influential factors define the sentence and the kind of imprisonment that they are subjected to. Aspects of beauty, ugliness, and vulgarity significantly interfere with proving criminals guilty and the type of punishment they are supposed to receive. It is important to note that different countries are governed with a varied and diverse set of rules and laws that are used to make these judgments. This paper seeks to discuss the aspects of attractiveness, ugliness, and vulgarity and how these aspects are associated with crime development by people in different places.

To start with, good looking people tend to enjoy a wide range of advantages compared to their unattractive counterparts (Maestripieri, Dario, Andrea Henry, and Nora, 2017 p.40) In a greater way, the good looking people always looks to have better convincing abilities to the eyes of the people they interact with, and this may pose a significant danger since they are likely to be more involved in criminal activities than people would suspect. Also, good looking people tend to live better lives and are usually more successful than those that do not have similar qualities. Notably, they also have better social characteristics as they can express their ideas easily as the people they interact with always have the perception that they are bound to convey good messages. Also, it is essential to note that people that look unattractive are subject to committing criminal offenses in which this contradicts with the current world whereby attractive people are more involved in these offenses.

For instance, beautiful ladies and women are found less guilty for offenses they are accused of and usually get less conviction for their crimes than unattractive women. It is, therefore, essential to understanding the current world, especially in crime investigation, while making judgments. When it is a question of reinforcement effects as a significant model of attraction, wrong perceptions are always taken up by people. In the end, they end up making wrong jurisdiction conclusions. For instance, people that have positive reinforcement effects have still received favorable judgments, and this increases the leniency in which their cases are handled (Denver, Megan, Pickett, and Shawn, 2017, p. 674). Also, those defending unattractive people always get less harsh judgments as compared to the defendants of unattractive people. However, if all factors would be held constant regardless of the appearance of a person, it follows that attractive people may be involved in more serious crimes than their counterparts. Also, they would be seen to possess higher abilities to commit crimes in the future. In this consideration, such people would be seen to take advantage of God’s given qualities and harsher, and severe judgments would be passed to them.

Offensive words and other forms of language that may appear abusive form a certain set of crimes (Nobata, Chikashi, et al., 2016). In different countries, different words are regarded as abusive if used in public by the offenders. Therefore, certain laws have been devised in different countries to handle such crimes, depending on their set rules. In terms of the vulgarity of how people express their ideas, unattractive people tend to be more susceptible to harsh judgment and punishment as compared to the attractive ones. It is so apparent that good looking people can express themselves in a calm and relaxed manner, which makes them enjoy some advantages than others. Also, the notion that unattractive people tend to commit more transgressions in the future as compared to the attractive ones. This makes it hard for the latter to have the ability to speak calmly due to the harshness of those judging them. In the end, they find themselves in a scenario where they tend to use vulgar language to defend themselves out of anger and stress that they pass through.

Regarding crime and abjection, crime tends to be abject because it does not honor respect, rules, and boundaries (Coulling, Ryan, and Matthew, 2018, p. 319). It majorly involves certain groups of people that are separated from the members of the entire community, such as the sex workers, single women, widows, convicts, the needy members of a community, and some religious leaders. In this case, lawbreakers seem to be cast off, and many times the offenders are separated from their actual environment. Also, abjection results in various forms of corruption, perversion, and leads to the prohibition of some laws and rules. Therefore, it takes advantage of these rules, thereby making it easy for the lawbreakers to defend themselves. Precisely, if a criminal assist the police force, for instance, to arrest other criminals, this kind of a criminal becomes abject. In one way or the other, the police will find it difficult to punish such a lawbreaker. In this regard, this favor manifests itself in the form of corruption in which such offenders will always walk away with a crime.

In conclusion, different aspects influence how various law offenders are perceived and the kind of judgments they receive in the end. For instance, the element of attractiveness tends to offer good looking people with a wide range of advantages since they are seen to be more honest than unattractive people. Besides, abjection leads to the separation of various groups of people, which also may make them commit multiple crimes due to their statuses in the community. However, while making judgments, it is essential to hold many factors constant and have the knowledge that everyone can commit a crime regardless of their looks, languages they use, or abjection status in the community.
