The research topic which has been selected for analysis is Junk Food and how it causes obesity in people of the UAE. This topic is important because Junk Food is quickly spreading across the UAE with different fast food outlets. This type of food has the power of causing obesity in people which results in different types of health issues. These health issues include diabetes, heart issues, and general physiology damage as well. The issue is also important because it negatively impacts society. It has the ability to damage future generations and making people less productive.

Overview

The statistics of UAE show how obesity has increased due to junk food in adolescents and teenagers as well. This statistic highlights how 30.5% of boys aged 14 and above are obese in the UAE, whereas 35.4% of girls are obese in the UAE as well (Zaal, 2017). This analysis shows how obesity and junk food are entirely correlated to each other. This correlation also results in different types of health-related impacts. This shows how parents, teachers, and society needs to show consistent care and efforts towards the issue.

A multi-stage automated random sampling technology has been conducted by (Zaal, 2017)among 661 teenagers, consisting of 324 boys and 337 girls aged 12 to 17 years. The highest proportion of obesity was observed in men at the age of 14,30% and in girls at the age of 13,35% (35,4%). The amount of breakfast, snacking between breakfast and lunch, and obesity in girls but not in boys were significantly associated. The risk of obesity was high when children and girls were eating breakfast at school. Fast foods showed a significant correlation with girls’ but not boys ‘ obesity. Statistics from the UAE National Diabetes and Lifestyle (UAEDIAB) cross-sectional analysis have been used, which has lasted adult expatriates living in UAE for four years or more.

 

Conclusion

The findings from the research show how obesity has increased due to Junk food consumption and causes various issues. These issues need to be countered by using healthy eating patterns and regular exercises.
