introduction
In the reading the author focused on different philosophies about a free society. He made it a point to say there is need of tolerance in the environment of many races, cultures and ethnic groups reside with each other, the need for tolerance and cooperation can only come about through a free society. This he believed was an essential lubricant needed as well as a need for avoiding extreme policies in Canada.

In conclusion in the reading the and closing points on the state of a free society clearly states that there must be tolerance. There is no room for discrimination in a free society. Through the adoption of values of cooperation and understanding, one can make Canada a better country. He detests the abuse of power and the lack of harmony and tolerance. These can have lots of negative effects on the personal freedoms and well-being of individuals.
