My interdisciplinary research skills developed at NSU
The purpose of this short research paper is to demonstrate your interdisciplinary research skills developed at NSU. You will select a topic of choice that requires an interdisciplinary approach AND is related to your career goals/professional aspirations, and then write a short analytical paper on the topic demonstrating the integration of two disciplinary perspectives on the the topic.
- Once you have selected a topic that is interdisciplinary (meaning it requires two or more disciplines to fully address/discuss) AND it is a topic related to your career goals and/or professional aspirations find at least FIVE (5) articles that relate to the topic and will help you to present a paper that meets the following Integrative Learning VALUE Rubric (see link to full rubric in the Assessment folder for weeks 6,7,8) elements:
- Connections to discipline[unique_solution]
- Connections to experience
- Transfer of knowledge
- Integrated Communication
The paper is to be approximately 5-7 pages, in APA format with a cover page, reference page, and abstract page. The paper should be titled. The paper is to include a clear THESIS statement, with supporting elements that demonstrate the presentation of disciplinary perspectives on the topic as well as your own interdisciplinary analysis (integration) of those perspectives as it relates to your topic. PROOFREAD your paper. Take advantage of the online and on campus resources via the Writing Center (1st floor of the Library) as well as SMARTTHINKING via Blackboard (TOOLS) and also the University of Purdue online writing lab (OWL). Review the elements of the Integrative Learning Value Rubric as you complete the paper–the rubric serves as the guide to the paper assignment.
