According to the research children of divorce expenses different challenges which range from psychological disturbance and to effect on social relationship. The persistence, severity, and types of such problems can either be mediated or moderated by different factors. Researchers have identified some of the factors to include: age and gender during the divorce time, characteristics of family based on childrearing skills, race, custodial household, socioeconomic status, and situational attributes, amongst others. The researchers continue to study the effects of divorce on a child’s development. This has made many of the current researchers seek to in finding the specific factors implicating potential outcome damage. It has, therefore, made many of the researchers to analyze the pre and post-divorce family characteristics(Lansford, 2009). Other researchers such as Fincham& Stanley shows that it not only divorce, which affects the development of the child but also the parental interactions. They consider the intr parental conflict to be significant when it comes to the child’s development. It was found that couples with high divorce and conflict relations significantly impact the development of children in a negative way (Fincham& Stanley 2002). According to Amato (2005), the stressor for every child results from the interparental conflict since it influences the attachment and the emotional security of a child. This makes children’s letter experience emotional issues in their lives.

In other studies such as that of Kinard and Reinherz in (1984) and in (1986), the elementary school children were observed in different family situations i.e children who are disrupted recently, those who experienced disruptions before starting schooling, and those who never experience an outage at all. It was found that children from the recently disrupted family suffered mu multidimensional and pronounced problems. Such effects have profoundly contributed to lowering the attentiveness of children at school decrease in academic achievements. It also leads to hostile life, dependency, and school dropouts.
