Argumentative essay- The need for personal activism
The societal hierarchy structure is a system that can be traced back to existence from time to history. The most common mode of social stratification can be identified in the division between the ruling class and the subjects. The ruling class can be determined to be the bosses while the subjects are the worker bees who are charged with the task of ensuring that the needs and the wants of the minority few members of the ruling class are met. Democracy is a form of governance in which the people believe to have a voice and that they are in full control of the system and the regimes under which they are governed through the possession of a vote. The people, therefore, elect their “leaders” based on merit as well as their capability to represent their interests in higher governmental tiers. This system of leadership consequently led to the development of the political fueled politics where the most convincing activist takes the day if they manage to convince a majority of the voters that they are the best-suited candidate for the job.
However, even to the naked eye, it is visible that our political systems are broken and no more extended function in how they are intended. Political offices, as well as governance, have been identified to address and cater to the needs and wants of the affluent few, which has been made evident in the Trump administration. Political decisions are made but not with the best interests of the majority at hand. The regime has turned against the very people that it is supposed to serve, and the people have conformed to the oppression given that it is a way of life that they have been introduced to and adapted to it as the reality of events and living.
How true is this, and what is the price that the people have been forced to pay for conformity against oppressive regimes? Higher tax rates, expensive healthcare, deplorable social services, among other social vices that the system has inflicted upon the people. With the current state of events, it is necessary to understand the importance of personal activism. Personal activism involves the feeling of personal responsibility to rise against and question any unacceptable undertakings in the governmental as well as the political sphere. Personal activism also includes the educating of the less informed members of society on their rights and entitlements that the system owes them.
By conducting this personal activism responsibilities and ensuring that we can get ourselves out of the political box that we have been put in for decades is the only way out towards attaining our most deserved liberation from the modern form of slavery, which is political governance. The political sphere may be viewed as a circus in which the politicians orchestrate plays, and the people are in a watch, not knowing it’s a clown show that they treat with such high regard. Personal activism could help us in realizing the power that we have in us and what we could achieve if we decided to end the circus show for good. Being content with mediocrity is the first ruin of our social wellbeing. It is only fair to be provided with what we deserve, and this can only be achieved by realizing that the power inside us is much greater than we think and that we can be the change that we want so badly. That is where personal activism begins.
