Career Fashions
Introduction
Career Fashions is my successful company in Canada, which aims to provide fashionable work uniforms for individuals in small towns. So far, the company has a good customer base and significantly high competitive advantage. My company is run by two design directors, Carolyn Knox and Cheryl Roche. So far, the company has a good customer base and significantly high competitive advantage. However, a problem for Career Fashion is that my colleague, Carolyn Knox, has decided to leave the company. This creates many underlying issues for our company, considering that Carolyn is one of the owners and provides a lot of assistance to help Career Fashions succeed.
As a fashion designer with an MBA, I resolve to improve the business through coordination of the production of fashionable uniforms, which include shoes, dresses, and other clothing for the whole population in small towns. I will also coordinate the production of belts, purses, hats, and glasses.
Designers usually take about 15months to design and manufacture a new clothing line. They begin the design process by conducting research trends of fashion and publish reports through fashion trade groups. After doing research, we visit trade shows and exhibitions to get fabric samples. After selection, the creation of initial designs, and construction of fabric samples, sent to it potential buyers. Environmental Analysis
Career Fashions environment is based around a small consumer base that allows them to focus on interpersonal goals for the company. However, the external issues for the company are our larger competitors on the island. Although the company can compete with their prices, they cannot compete with their larger manufacturers and different production strategies.
Success Definition
I believe the success of every career plan depends on harmonization and bringing together widely disparate, diversity in work roles, and the stretched standards. The business scenario has changed. As the owner of the Career Fashions company, I think success is through resolving on the inward focus and looking at a differential rate of returns within the business financial performance. There are trends to be keen on and evaluated.
Mission Statement
The mission statement for Career Fashion company is to fill in as a pioneer by empowering advancement and groundbreaking with the goal that my representatives can make innovation that will improve the lives of those in creating nations.
SWOT
One of the many strengths that the company is that we are the only operating company on the island that has uniform manufacturing. These uniforms have good quality; they are fashionable and comfortable for consumers. This gives the company a competitive advantage towards its larger competitor on the other island. Careers Fashions uniform manufacturing aims at creating the right quality products because the seamstress makes one uniform at a time, creating a more significant interest to consumers. This creates a more substantial benefit to present and potential customers because it signifies the effort that is being put into each product. This strength differentiates us from our competitors and creates a distinctive atmosphere. Career Fashions products can also compete with our competitors because of their prices. We believe prices are fair for the product that consumers are receiving (Wee, 2018). By providing reasonable prices that are within the same range as competitors, it allows options for the consumers, which will create some consumers that will be brand loyal to Career Fashions.
Career Fashions has many strengths; however, we created many weaknesses that the company could have controlled. One of the significant issues that will cause the company further underlying issues is the small amount of staff for production and design. I have employed seven employees who are in charge of the production and plan for the company, and two are trained to run this section. This is an issue because one employee is quitting. Therefore, if my company expands the staff and training, it will be better-rounded.
Employees
Careers Fashion employees provide customers with different experiences when purchasing fashionable work uniforms. Employees have a significant impact as internal stakeholders because they represent what the company believes in and their products. By implementing various tasks and procedures to the employees, the company provides structure and guidelines for the employees to follow. Career Fashions production strategies are what make them different from competitors. The employees hold a genie interest in how the production system works and completing the products to the best of their ability. After the completion of products for customers, the employees engage in communication with customers and ask what they think about the quality of the product. Therefore, employees have a substantial impact as stakeholders by their involvement in the company.
Three Possible Solutions to Career Fashions Problem
Carolyn leaving the company can cause many potential underlying issues for Career Fashions. However, some of them can be controlled. One of the ways that this issue can be controlled is by increasing the technological involvement of the company. Meaning the machines, they can be upgraded, and they can transfer to a mass-production or more massive production structure, therefore creating more job opportunities and fewer issues for the future.
A downfall of Career Fashions is the lack of experience for production management. By hiring a new partner, and extra employees, this will expand the company’s knowledge of production management and also increase the size of the company. Carolyn leaving creates an immediate issue that needs to be addressed. Cheryl Roche can hire either someone with production and design experience or hire someone that doesn’t have any experience so that Carolyn can teach her the way the company is run now, without any changes.
A good strategy for deciding who to hire would be the decision-making process. There are five steps to this process which are (1) identify the issue, (2) evaluate alternatives, (3) ethics check, (4)evaluate, and (5) implement your decision, . The problem, in this case, is Carolyn is leaving the company, the alternatives are to hire someone with experience or without. The best decision to be made would be to hire someone with experience.
Career Fashions Action Plan
Career Fashion’s best option for future success is to hire a new employee to take Carolyn‘s place. By providing a unique individual that has a fresh perspective of the company, it will help solve any issues that the management team may have had in the past. Carolyn can teach her about how their small-batch production system works and how the unique designs are different from competitors. By having Carolyn teach her about this, it will avoid any unwanted change for employees that already work for Career Fashions. The four steps that can provide a guideline for employees are when hiring someone new is planning, leading, controlling, and organizing.
Planning who to hire to takes Carolyn’s place would include interviewing individuals who may suit the job description or hiring a recruiting company. By doing either of these, you are taking control of Career Fashion’s future because management is a crucial aspect of helping the company succeed. Providing an outline of goals and possible changes would also help them adapt to it. Employees of Career Fashions are used to Carolyn making guidelines for how production should be run. If I provide an outline of potential changes, the employees will be prepared to work in a different atmosphere.
Controlling includes measuring performance and taking action when it is needed. I measure the performance of the employees and new management. I will have to take action when I feel like change is happening too quickly or that my employees are not adapting to the transition well. If the company works better with a small-batch production system, then the new management should be willing to work with employees’ requests. By providing support to the employees, the company is avoiding any unwanted change which would cause underlying issues for customers, because the production quality would be affected.
Creating structure after change has been implemented is essential when trying to keep the success of the business at a steady pace. Career Fashions has been doing an excellent job of providing their small town with work uniforms. Trying to expand too fast with new management can be an issue. Creating a sense of structure can include providing daily, weekly, and monthly goals for the company. This will not only motivate the employees but produce a healthy amount of competition between them. Another form of structure that could be implemented is a slow process of changing management. Before the new manager of production and design could make any changes, Carolyn could provide the manager with possible changes that she thinks her staff would be able to adapt too quickly.
Conclusion
Career Fashions is a successful company that provides comfortable and fashionable work uniforms to their target market. However, Career Fashions is new to the market, and experienced downfall threw their financial and employment situations. The company was very dependent on Carolyn because she was in charge of production and design. I did not see this coming; therefore, issues arose. Careers Fashions was challenged, but hiring someone to take Carolyn’s place provides opportunities for the company to implement changes that will enhance Career Fashion’s future success.
