My Educational Journey
After high school, I decided to pursue my undergraduate degree at Montgomery College in the fall of 2018. The college offers the perfect opportunity to explore Studio Art. My academics were commendable from the onset, and the college provided me with a chance to explore my passion. I find myself fortunate to attend such a prolific college. The college is filled with friendly individuals and professors who are willing to share knowledge. In some instances, once the chance presented itself, they shared opportunities with students’. I am grateful for their devotion and commitment, even when they have a personal life. When the chance presented itself, I worked alongside other students to create a club on our campus. We identified the niche, and by November 5th, we set up an art club.
At the moment, I am planning to obtain my associate degree in Studio Arts from Montgomery College. I will also have to transfer to complete a bachelor’s degree in Fine Art. The community was supportive throughout my pursuit Ifor education. Therefore, I plan on giving back to the Montgomery College community. I am going to volunteer and teach for some period before pursuing my master’s degree. My ultimate dream is to pursue my master’s degree at Amherst College. Furthermore, a master’s degree will help me achieve my long-term objectives. My first objective is going back to my home country and reviving the only art school in the region. Secondly, my master’s degree will enable me to restart not only the school but also government funding.. Don't use plagiarised sources.Get your custom essay just from $11/page
Background
I grew up in a less privileged community since I was an immigrant from Haiti. My upbringing made me face both financial and academic challenges. Over the years, I have realized the value of college education. I grew up in a family of three, and I was the first to attend college. The political instability in our country made the high school experience tough. My last two years in high Scholl were the worst. A complicated situation unfolded between the public and private schools. However, the public schools were more hit to the extent the teachers had to go on strike. It also meant that students could no longer attend their classes as scheduled. In the same fashion, the government was reluctant in meeting the needs of the teachers.
Notably, students had to join the teachers in the strike with the hope that the government would meet their demands. Moreover, the situation was getting grave; the public teachers on strike attacked the private schools. It was a sad experience since innocent people were harmed and some lives were lost in the process. The crisis was severe; I had to spend my last three months of high school studying from home. However, I was lucky enough to sit for my final exams. My move to the US two years ago made me realize the large gap in the education system. This country offered me a grand opportunity to work hard for my dreams. I realized that one could pursue his or her goals without any form of discrimination. Furthermore, the quality of education is undeniable exemplary.
Generally, my past experiences have made me realize that we are not slaves of our past. Thus, since I joined Montgomery College, I have learned to appreciate the US culture and the education system. From now henceforth, I have dreams and hopes to achieve more in art. A degree is a start to a brighter future. Therefore, I will be honoured to study at Amherst College for my master’s degree since educational excellence is my ultimate goal. Furthermore, my success will prove to other children in my hometown that all dreams are valid, and our past experiences should not define our future.
