EXPLAIN THE RELEVANCE OF PHILOSOPHY AS A SET OF ATTITUDES OF EDUCATION.
Philosophy refers to the fundamental study of reality and existence, especially when considered as an academic discipline. It is also an attitude that acts as a guiding principle for behavior. It is well for a philosopher thus sometimes to see himself in caricature, it is his business to deal with conception which enter into practical life, which are elaborated by the scientific inquirer and which guide the artist’s imagination and if he cannot gain the approbation of these specialists, he ought at least to be able to say something in explanation of their adverse opinion and in vindication of his own character.
The characteristics of a person who is philosophic minded may be listed as self- awareness, comprehensiveness, penetration and flexibility. The above listed factors are explained below;
Self-awareness. It entails commitment to being as honest as possible to yourself in regard to personal biases, assumptions and prejudice. One becomes aware of the effects of his personal predispositions he needs to take his information into account in both interpretation and communication. For example when we discuss whether something (an animal, a strong AL, a Boltzmann brain e.t.c) would have the kind of intelligence like a human, there are often material saying whether they would be self-aware. In short self-awareness in the lowest standard is trivially easy to obtain, in the highest standards it is not obtained by most humans. Self-awareness sounds to be that one factor under the set of attitudes that distinguishes man from other animals. Self-awareness or the awareness is an important function for an organism because it helps increase the survival chance of that organism for instance human because it deals with the nature of assumptions for instance when we are aware we assume reality.
