Developing Strategies for Overcoming Communication Apprehension

Capture the idea that your paragraph will be about YOUR new barriers to an accurate self-concept.

On this part, I will capture the idea of overcoming communication barriers to gain confidence.  For I to gain confidence, I should avoid self-defeating assumptions. This is the ability of me thinking that I can’t do it the act of fearing to speak out my ideas. This barrier has affected me on recent moments whereby I find it hard to speak out when being with others. I decided to change my perception and gain the confidence to communicate my views when in the company of others. The other barrier that I want to capture is the perception of the thing that my goals are too big. The gap between a giant target and today’s reality can be depressing. I learn that confidence originates from small repeated wins. I decided to set small goals that I could win that help me gain confidence. I thought to myself the idea that for one to be the winner, he/she has to think small as well as significant. My goal was to develop confidence that I could be able to communicate out effectively with confidence (Krishnan and Atkin 2014)

Topic Sentence: Capture the idea that your paragraph will be about YOUR new barriers to accurate perceptions of others.

In a perceptional way, there are some barriers to inhibit accurate communication with others. Some of these barriers are like stereotyping, which a tendency to give attributes to people based on their class. Concerning this barrier, the attributes are assigned to people solely, and it mostly happens when new people meet. Since they know less about each other, there will be barriers to communication. This barrier also occurs when people of different race and cultural background meet. This type of fence can mostly be found in a workplace where people come from different ethnic groups and cultures. Another barrier is selective perception whereby somebody to scream out when one is talking to avoid listening to the person speaking. Here the person focuses on his own thing and ignores the person to talk to them.  This is barriers that inhibit effective communication among individuals (Waheed et al. 2015).

Perception checking

According to Binti and Rashid (2018), when someone’s influence your emotions, it is good to address it to move on. Perception checking is an instrument that monitors the understanding of the apparent action. It is also good to acknowledge how someone feels and taking charge of emotions. Once we recognize our feelings, you will have to make a decision. The best way to start the conversation concerning feelings is through reinforcing our beliefs responsibility in controlling the communication. It is also good to ask for clarification whenever the interface is not clear. We should avoid making too high goals, and we should have good perception towards one another when working or communicating with one other.

Capture the idea that barriers in perceptions exist; therefore, the Perception Checking Process could help you more accurately perceive others.

From Krishnan and Atkin (2014), personality is a critical issue that drives me to have perceptions. By listening to how people speak and reactions also influences me to have opinions. Motivation is what made me have perceptions as I needed to develop a strategy of avoiding barriers in communications. My attitude is the one leading to the development of knowledge. My social behavior especially interacting with others, is the cause of my perception. Since interacting with people influence our ways of communication. Social behavior enables us to cooperate and gives way to dialogue.
