important events in history
Events that have happened in the past human history have a significant effect on the present times as they change how things could have been. In human history, the world has seen such events that changed the direction that people and society were going. One of the important times in human history is the renaissance period that begun from around the 14th century to the 17th century. The people before the renaissance period lived on superstitious and unfounded beliefs of the world. The people had little knowledge of how the world around them worked and they, therefore, relied on superstitions and the supernatural to explain occurrences. The Renaissance period was an awakening period where mathematics and science began to answer the curious questions of the people. The people got to learn about the existence of other planets, about gravity, the shape of the earth and other major topics that were unknown in the past. The Renaissance saw an end to the dark ages and ushered in a new era of science and curiosity (Pavlac, 2019).
A second important event in history is the reformation that took place between 1517 and 1648. Before the Reformation period, the Roman Catholic Church had strong control over European society. The church had established and enforced a strong authority and influence on the people as well as the government mostly exploiting them and scaring them to maintain Christian beliefs and practices. During the Reformation period learned people such As Martin Luther began to directly question and challenges the teachings and ways of the church. At the end of the Reformation period, the church divided up to form the Catholic and protestant factions (Pavlac, 2019).
Another important event in human history is the first and second world wars that took place in the first half of the 20thcentury. The First World War had broken out following a series of events after the assassination of Franz Ferdinand and the declaration of war between Austria-Hungary and Serbia. After World War 1 ended, the peace negotiations were not properly conducted leaving a lot of resentment with the losers of the war. The bad handling of the ending of the First World War eventually led the world into the Second World War. The world wars had a significant impact on the world with the massive killings and destruction that took place as well as inventions that were made during the period. After the war, nations in the world are now extra cautious to avoid circumstances that may lead to the third world war (Pavlac, 2019).
