Humble career beginnings

Boris Ivanov had a very humble career beginning working as a diplomat in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the USSR. His star started shining when he was given a promotion and sent to work as a diplomat in the Soviet Embassy in Washington, DC.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Boris moved to the Private sector and joined Unibest Bank as an executive. Here he oversaw the bank’s projects in the oil and gas industry. This insider role in the oil and gas industry opened his eyes to the numerous opportunities available there. Between 2000 and 2004, he worked at MiG Corporation as the 1^st Deputy Director-General for Strategy.

The big break

The big break in the career of this celebrated entrepreneur came when he joined Gazprombank as an advisor to the institution’s chairman in 2004. It was not long before he was made the first Vice President. This was a pretty phenomenal position as Gazprom was the 3^rd largest bank in Russia.

In 2007, Boris Ivanov was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer and Director General of Gazprombank’s parent company, Gazprom. He now headed one of the biggest oil and gas conglomerates in the country, but he still yearned for more success. In 2011, he moved on to become an entrepreneur and launched GPB Global Resources B.V.

Boris Ivanov set up the headquarters of GPB in Amsterdam and has been the Managing Director of this oil exploration company since its founding. Today this company is very successful thanks to his shrewd leadership and has oil exploration deals across the globe. Excellent leadership skills and a keen eye for lucrative opportunities have been the key elements of his success.
