McDonalds’ Food Supplier, OSI Group to Start Making the Impossible Burger
OSI Group, one of the leading food producers globally, and the supplier of top global food brands like McDonalds, Burger King, and White Castle, will soon be making the Impossible Burger. This is after this top global food producer based in Chicago signed a partnership deal with Impossible Foods. According to the president of Impossible Foods, Dennis Woodside, the two companies have already set up the necessary production equipment at several OSI processing plants. Production of the Impossible Burgers in these plants is expected to begin soon.
Filling the demand gap to further success
Dennis Woodside went on to say that when Impossible Foods launched its Impossible Burgers, it didn’t expect such a huge demand. At the time, its production capacity was small, but soon, the market for the plant-based burgers exploded. In an effort to meet the booming demand for Impossible Burgers, the company doubled its employees at its California plant to 200, but still, it wasn’t enough.
According to the President of Impossible Foods, the partnership deal with OSI Group is the best chance that the company has to meet its demand. He added that they hoped to leverage the experience and expertise of this McDonalds food supplier to further their prosperity.
Going big, becoming first
The Chicago based global food producer boasts of having production plants in North America, Eastern and Western Europ, and Asia-Pacific. In total, the company has 65 plants in 17 countries worldwide. Impossible Foods hopes that their partnership with this global food producer will not only help the go big but also become first in the global plant-based burger industry.
Beyond Meat is currently Impossible Food’s biggest rival in the meatless burger market. Beyond Meat just had a record-breaking IPO, and its share prices are up 700%. Impossible Foods president mentioned that his company would be taking advantage of OSI Group global networks to catch up with its competition and become the industry leader. One of the strategies that the company will be employing is making its Impossible Burger more available to the global market. Europe is one of the regions where OSI Group has a firm footing and that where Impossible Foods is planning to first expand to.
