Verbal vs. Nonverbal Communication
Since the human race, there have been various ways of communication. But non-verbal communication can be traced back to the late 1800s, where it suggested that humans as well as animals often and often unintentionally to show some level of emotions. It is also believed the only way animals can communicate non-verbally, and the human being the direct descendants tend to share the majority of these characteristics. Various people across the globe have used various ways of communicating with other people. Communication is the act of understanding as well as passing information from one individual to another. In a simpler term, it is the process of sharing and transmitting ideas, values, facts, and opinions, among others, from one organization to another or one individual to another. Therefore this paper will focus on the differences that inherent in both verbal and non-verbal communication.
Both verbal and non-verbal communication varies in the manner in which the information is conveyed from one person to another. This means that there is a big difference in terms of the structure of both types of communication, even though they all complement each other in a speech or when a person is speaking. Therefore, when it comes to verbal communication, it is usually structured; this is a solid structure and highly organized. This means that verbal communication has a starting point as well as a stopping point; this implies that when a conversation starts, it must come to an end. Another thing is that the use of the words in verbal communication has different meanings and that they are used at certain times during verbal communication. On the other hand, no- verbal communication is contrary to all the above-mentioned items. Non-verbal communication does not have a structure (structured); it usually does not have a given particular pattern. This can be interpreted to mean that non-verbal communication does not have a starting point, as well as the stopping point. Because most of the communication is done by the use of signs, gestures, and bodily moves, it can lead to people interpreting it in different manners, and this leads to different meanings, which makes a non-official type of communication. With that, it leads to more time is taken when trying to interpret the message passed through signs and gestures, and the chance of having misunderstanding becomes a possibility in this type of communication. However, this type of communication is crucial because it acts as a supporting factor in verbal communication by helping to flavor in the communication process. But, these usually do not happen the other way round.
When it comes to the method of conveying the message, both verbal as well as non-verbal communication tends to have a difference in how the message is conveyed. In verbal communication, the communication that takes place is usually conveyed in terms of words or languages. It implies that when individuals are communicating with one another, they use languages or words to pass their message to those receiving it. It can be done via the telephone as well as face to face communication. In an organization, it can be used to make a presentation or to present a memo explaining a new rule or making an announcement. Furthermore, when it comes to verbal communication, the exchange of information can be between parties who understand each other’s language. On the contrary, non-verbal communication is a method of communication that involves the sharing of information through signs or visual cues. This form of communication can be identified by haptics, artifacts, oculesics, chronemics, kinesics, and proxemics. Furthermore, unlike verbal communication, where information is passed via word, here, information can only be exchanged by the application of body signs or gestures. The use of gestures as well as signs is important; this is because they make presentation attractive. Another importance of gestures in conversation is illustrated in between both public and interpersonal conversation. They are good at enabling the speaker to capture the audience’s attention. Gestures and signs are indications of communication on both conscious as well as subconscious level. Additionally, this method of conveying information through the use of gestures and signs is important to people who have problems with hearing, and it is their best-suited way of communicating what they want. However, this method is not suited to making a long conversation or explanation. They are thus making it limited, which continues to imply that non-verbal communication cannot be used as an official way of communicating.. Based on the gathered information, it has been realized that both nonverbal and verbal communication have similarities as well as differences. Non-verbal communication is seen as the one that complements verbal communication. But verbal communication does not do the same. Therefore, both of them are essential in terms of relaying information from one person to another.

Dear Mr. White,
Uniform Rule
Having studied at Valley Road Primary like ten years ago and now my younger brother is studying there, I have a feeling that it is my obligation to relate the feeling s of all the students at the school in regard to school uniform. Then when I was studying there, I always wished I could raise my opinion on how my fellow students and I felt wearing the uniform, which we felt was a practice that is outdated and that it is no longer necessary. Down years the line, I am no longer a student there, but my brother is and being an Alumni I feel like I need to let my opinion get to be known. Therefore, by writing this letter, I am hoping I will be able to convince you that this how things are and start negotiations on changing the uniform rule.
My reasons for wanting the uniform to be faced out:
To start with, in the recent survey this was conducted by the council of the school made a crucial identification, which indicated that most of the pupils would rather wear their own clothes when going to school instead of wearing a uniform. I feel that you bring the headteacher; it is your responsibility to makes sure that you are listening as well as considering the opinion of former students as well as the current students and go on a negotiation table with them. Given that the school council is an elected student body from all classes in the facility, their findings can be of great importance if you took the initiative of taking consideration of any information that they discover about the needs and wants of the pupils. This will help them to be happy because they will feel that their opinions are listened to as well as getting considered. When my brother told me about the findings, I decided to take the initiative of writing to you and let you know their feeling towards the subject.
Secondly, my brother, as well as his peers, told me that they do feel a bit more comfortable as well as the ease with their own clothes more than when with school uniforms. I kept asking them further why they have not voiced their concern and wishes to you, and they told me that at times they get afraid, and they don’t know whether you will grant them their wish. Additionally, I can support them on this issue of wanting to come to school with their clothes; this is because it would make them feel better, feel more comfortable, and with that, they can be able to pay attention to what brought them to school which is studying. But the constant fiddling with itchy trousers, stiff colors as well as uncomfortable shoes, they argue that it mostly distract them from their duties of reading, this I can support fully given I went through the same some few years back. And this is another reason I support the pupils in the quest to see the phasing out of the school uniform from Valley Road Primary. Therefore, the act of wearing their own clothes would go at length to help them lengthen their learning time, improve their learning, and at the end of the day, improve the overall school achievement. Would that not be a good achievement Mr. White? You might not be able to answer right now, but deep down inside you, I know this makes sense, and I know you will do the right thing.
Third, the parents of the pupils might also benefit greatly from this beautiful act of allowing students to wear uniforms when they attend school. And my mother is one of those people supporting it; she would love to see my brother going to school on his own clothes rather than the uniforms. With this, the cases of excuses like that a pupil did not wear the uniform because the parent failed to wash it in time of that the uniform is torn, and it did not get to be tailored in time. But the moment the pupils wear their clothes, the above cases would be eliminated because of a lack of options on what to wear would be a thing of the past. It would also be a great relief to the parents, and this is because they would no longer have to face or experience the Sunday rush to wash the uniforms for their kids as well as the hustle of ironing them in time by the time Monday catches up with them. In terms of cost, It would greatly be of value to the parents because it would reduce the amount of money that the pupil’s parents have to part with towards buying school uniform, especially for parents with more than one or two pupils. A school uniform that is good and has got quality is not cheap, and this means that a parent will have to dig deeper into his or her pockets in order to get quality uniform, which will last for a while for the pupils. Instead, that cash that has been saved can be set aside to be used to in buying stationary resources, books, in their homes so that they can be able to complete their homework effectively. And this will be great for the pupils because it will also help them to improve their academic performance in school.
Mr. White, as you can see, in this letter, there are very many compelling arguments the reasons as tow why the pupils need to abandon uniforms for home clothes, especially pupils of Valley Road primary. The arguments show that home clothes are more cost-effective than the uniform and they are more comfortable, which helps the student feel more comfortable and makes them concentrate on their studies.
I am hoping that is you put into consideration the points which I have been able to raise in this letter. The students, as well as I, are looking forward to hearing your response.
Yours sincerely

The question of whether Facebook as an aspect of technology promotes loneliness is a complex one. Over the years, there has been growth in terms of technology. The emergence of technology can have an impact on people either positively and negatively. This technology has led to the birth of social media, which has taken the current generation by storm. These social media include Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Whatsapp, Youtube, Snapchat, WeChat, and others. Furthermore, many people have been spending most of their time on these sites using their phones as well as laptops. Consequently, this has led to some people arguing that it has led some people to become lonely or isolated because of spending much time on these sites.
It is significant to understand as well as regulate the usage of Facebook by young children as well as teenagers and understand how it can affect them. The first thing for a fact is that the continuous use of Facebook can be addictive and can cause loneliness. In various fields, People argue that alcohol or drugs are more addictive when compared to Facebook or Facebook is not a big problem; however, this is not the truth. Furthermore, the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business carried a report on Social media addiction, where Facebook was one of the social media sites that were discussed. The University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business carries out a student that involved 205 individuals in the town of Wartburg, Germany, in order to analyze how Facebook and other social media site addictiveness and the levels of loneliness. The study two about a week where the participants would get polled using smartphones each for seven days, and they would get asked to say at which moment they had an experience of desire in the past 30 minutes, and also if at any moment they submitted to that desire. The participants would further be requested to gauge each desire on the scale of “irresistible” to mild (Bgr). According to the report, it as found that the likes of Facebook are very addictive, and most people do not know how to escape it, and sometimes it leads to people becoming lonely in their confinements. Furthermore, the majority of the individuals who are addicted to Facebook usually don’t realize that they are addicted.
Secondly, addictive individuals can get physical and mental disorders easily by using Facebook. Individuals think that Facebook does not cause mentor disorders. It was argued that Facebook and other social media sites are good and cannot affect someone mentally because it is believed that Facebook helps an individual to express his or her thoughts or feelings easily. Correspondingly, via Facebook, an individual can get connected to each other more. Conversely, Facebook tends to offer meetings that are limited. This is because people meet online or websites but not face to face. (Sigman) suggested that “The use of social networking sites as opposed to face-to-face interaction could lead to major health problems.” He continued to claim in a British journal known as Biologist, “that spending too much time online could lead to social isolation, loneliness, and a negative outlook. These types of psychological symptoms could eventually lead to more serious health concerns, such as heart disease, cancer, and dementia. When people are using Facebook, they tend not to move a lot, and they find themselves sitting at home glued to their phones or laptops. And with that, most people tend not to be active. Consequently, this leads to natural physical as well as mental disorders.
Thirdly, Facebook does nothing to help children in their talents or studies. Individuals have a tendency to feel or think that Facebook and other social sites are the best places to show their work they have done or talents. For instance, they argue that individuals might get to share video clips of what they are doing, maybe playing football or even singing and dancing. However, this can only be good for people who are really good at it. This means that if you are got or gifted with that, and you keep spending much of your time on Facebook instead of practicing on how to become better, then you can’t make any progress in terms of your talent. I was able to carry out a survey in the previews semester on regards to the connection between using Facebook and studying. In that survey, the student who responded indicated that the use of Facebook or any other social does not help in the way in studies. It was also realized that the students who perform better spend limited time on Facebook. The act of spending time on social media takes away a lot of time of what an individual really wants to achieve. Therefore, if an individual is not able to pay attention, his or her time can run out very fast, and that time cannot be recovered. But if individuals spend much of their time studying, practice dancing, singing, exercising, playing music instruments rather than spending their time on Facebook, it would be of great benefit to their lives. Particularly, teenagers and young children are the ones that at the risk of being exposed to this environment of Facebook.
Facebook, as well as other social media, are so much loved by youngsters and teenagers, though the trend now is catching up with the elderly as well as the working class. The addition of Facebook and other social media in recent years has become a growing trend given the rise of site users across the globe. Facebook has become like abusing drugs, people are getting addicted to each passing day, and the more people get lonely because they spend much time alone on their phones. It has been mentioned that Facebook can lead to physical and mental diseases. It also leads to many people wasting precious time they could have been using to do other productive activities. And that the reason why there is a need to regulate the use of Facebook by young people to make sure they don’t end being lonely.
