College Football in The South.

“Football is not a sport that ends; it is also eternal. And spiritual things are eternal.” The statement that describes the religious and spiritual relationship that exists between fans and SEC football in the south of America. Southeastern Conference is a sporty institution conference which is found primarily in the south of the United States. With fans from all over, SEC football has become so popular that people come from far and wide to be part of the action. It does not depend on whether their team emerges victorious or ends up in the last sport; the fans are ever loyal. Some may even argue that SEC football is more of a religion than it is a sport. A covenant that exists between the fans and the game.

The fans are devoted to their college football teams, and the love grows stronger with every championship season. It is a religion that is rooted deep inside their hearts, and this kind of love and worship cannot be tampered with.

SEC football has grown its popularity through the influence that social media has on modern society. The rise of smartphones and social media sites like Instagram and Facebook has brought a significant change in the way people see sports today.

People can use it so conveniently in their daily lives, and this has been the tool that is propelling the growing love that there is in sports. In southern conference football, social media has become an essential tool that has been used to distribute that content of the game and has attracted millions of supporters. As we know very well, the number of people who use social media has increased at a rapid rate in previous years. Individuals are now engaging in sports and are following their favorite athletes and the teams that they support. It is one of the reasons that has led to the increased love that exists between fans and SEC football. Fans in social media are following all their favorite players and share news and events about what is happening in the football scene. The main advantage social media has helped in creating the religion like nature of the fans of college football in the south is that it has helped build a relationship between the public and the sports. Another way that social media has assisted in building the love and worship between fans and SEC football is that social media is a tool for connecting with other fans that are out there. For any individual who is into sports, social media is an essential tool that they can use to interact and share information with other fans. It has supported a two-way exchange of information between football fans in the south. According to Jensen and his colleagues, the popularity that is there today between fans and football in the south can be related to the growing demand in the use of social media. In their book, “Exploring the factors affecting popularity in social media,” the coaches of the game have a close relationship with their fans, and this has been mostly because of social media. Coaches and administrators, together with the fans, have created an enormous fan base for the game and have been able to connect with  fans.

Americans generally love their sports. The United States of America is the land of the free, and something that they love to do with their freedom is to engage in games. It has been another contributing factor in the religious-like nature of college football in the south. Football has been around since the 1800s, and most of the populous in America was raised loving football. This is also the case in the south. People are brought up with the love of the game in their hearts. This love makes them see it more like a religion than a sport. Watching the game on television and attending the games in the stadiums is the way the SEC football fans show their love for their religion, that is football. College football in the south is a display of their love for their city and where they come. The population grows up supporting their college team and this in turn makes students to rally and showcase their pride. The games are televised, and viewership is of the channels is in the hundreds of thousands, and these numbers increase every day. According to the book “How Football Explains America,” the author talks about how Americans have a love for the game in general. The book talks about how America has a massive fanbase for college football. It is significant in illustrating how college football in the south turned out to be more like a religion than it is a sport. Paolantonio, who is the author, explains that fans have a great appetite and massive excitement for college football that has existed from far.

Perhaps the main reason that has made southern college football a religion is that the fans bring up their children attending home games with their families. It creates the bond that is needed as an adult to love something with such passion. A passion that pushes an individual to travel miles and miles to attend a game. A love that makes one devote his or her time, focus, and commitment to loving a game. It can be argued that maybe it is the key reason why southern college football is a religion. Attending the games with family members has become a tradition making the game the religion. The bond between families is created in these kinds of conditions. The love is passed on from parents to their children. The parents instill in their children the custom of having faith in the teams that they love. Children grow up believing in the decisions the coaches make and become followers in their every action. Every decision made by the coach is made out to be a religious act for the good of the team

In conclusion, the love that people have for football nowadays is more like a religion than it is as a sport. Not only in the south of America but all over the world, people are creating much devotion to football than they are to other aspects of their lives. People are creating time to attend football games than they are when it comes to religion. Churches, mosques, and temples are not as full as they were in the past, but stadiums and sports events are fuller than ever. It is seen in SEC football and its fans in the south. Fans devoting their time and love for the game, and this has made it seem as if they are worshiping the movement.

In light of the scientific evidence, I would tell him that his self-esteem will go up eventually. Although it differs from one individual to another, the research suggests that self-esteem will most likely increase from adolescence to middle adulthood and then start to drop from there as the person gets older. The study strongly suggests that as a person develops from his or her younger years to the adult years, self-esteem grows in the person. So, I would likely tell my friend that as he gets older and starts living a more adult life, he will begin to gain more confidence in himself.  According to the study, my friend is currently in his young adult stages, and the chances are that his self-esteem will start improving if he starts to see life from an adult’s point of view. The study also states that this projection in self-esteem differs in different individuals depending on the lifestyle that they follow. Therefore, I would tell my friend that is true, but it will also require an effort on his side. He has to have a different mindset and stop criticizing himself. Instead, he should focus more on the small wins that he has been able to achieve over time, no matter how little it is. Having a belief in his mind that “nothing is going to change” will hinder this transition that is expected to happen as he becomes an adult. The fact that he feels like a failure doesn’t mean that he necessarily is one; it only means that it is what he believes. I would also add to the fact that I do not necessarily mean that his self-esteem will drop as he gets older. Although one of the significant reasons that self-esteem decreases in old age is due to the decline in health, socioeconomic status and cognitive abilities it is true that if he maintains his health well and maintains his age through old age, it is likely that he can still have self-esteem in old age. I would also advise him to achieve such a status, and he also has to have a more emotionally stable life. The research has shown that people who are more emotionally stable, conscientious, and extraverted tend to develop high self-esteem than those who show a lowness in this trait. I will, therefore, insist for him to be more emotionally stable and avoid complaining a lot, he should also be more aware of his environment, and finally, he should avoid being an introvert and start mingling with other individuals.

The research on another level goes on to prove that self-esteem is more like character and intellect. It means that self-esteem does not vary continuously over time but will vary tremendously depending on the successes and failures that we experience. This means that an individual’s self-worth and esteem will be higher if he or she experiences more progress and then failures. With this fact in my arsenal, I will tell my friend that he if he focuses more on the success that he has achieved over time. Having successes is only a matter of perspective. If he becomes more positive about his life, he is likely going to see the small victory that he had achieved over time, and by focusing on these successes, he is going to have high self-esteem. And according to the other research, if he does this throughout his life, he is likely to have self-esteem all through and, contrary to the first theory, will not see a decline in his esteem.

To sum it up, It is highly likely that he feels like a failure because of the way he perceives his life. It does not necessarily mean that he is one.  He should, therefore, start creating a mentality of positivity in his mind and with time will see his self-esteem and self-worth improve and by the findings of the first research his confidence will grow tremendously with age and by applying the second theory, his self-esteem will be intact if he focuses more on his success and put less emphasis on his failure and should only learn from them.
