Alfeter Eid

Eid al-Fitr is a day celebrated by all the Muslims and marks the end of a month-long dawn to sunset fasting of Ramadan. The day is special to me as it reflects an end to a period that checks my faith. I celebrate the day every year. Last year, I participated in the event back in our home in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The celebrations began in the evening on June 3 and ended on the evening of June 4. On the first day, we gathered in the mosque where we pray Salat, which is Islamic prayer. The day is not celebrated only in the mosque but also in other areas like open fields and community centers.

The day marks the end of the 40 days of fasting time, whereas Muslims we pray for forgiveness and forgiving others. Personally, it is a day that I like coming close to Allah and ensure that I reflect on my deeds. The day is a celebration after ensuring that I am doing according to sharia. The day began at dawn at the mosque, where I completed Eid Morning prayer. The day celebration states that we greet each other and wish everyone, Eid Mubarak. After the prayers, I joined my extended family for breakfast.

Wishing everyone Eid Mubarak is a sign of peaceful coexistence. The day made me have peace internally and externally. It is a time that I learned that before extending a hand for peaceful living with other people, internal peace is more important. After finding inner peace, I pray for forgiveness. After breakfast with the family, I went to celebrate the day in an event held at a local school where I interacted with new friends, and the teaching strengthened my belief.

La Roche University aims at co-creating a world of compassion, justice, and peace. The 40 days of fasting and Eid al-Fitr is a time I reflect and aim at creating internal and external peace. The values gained from the celebration teaches me to be a peace pioneer. The celebrations help extend what the university seeks to creating justice through peace. I can state that I am an agent of the University for Spreading Peace and happiness to everyone without discrimination. The period teaches how to appreciate and accommodate everyone regardless of color, race, and religion.

Last year’s Eid Al Fitr was a successful day. It provided me with the foundation of loving everyone. I met a new friend in Riyadh, and fortunately, he studies at La Roche University. The celebrations ensured that I met family members and friends that I had not seen for a long time and would summarize the day was successful.
