Missouri Botanical Garden is renowned for being the second largest herd garden in the US. It has an annual attendance of more than 901,000 people. Over the past 150 years, it has gained over 45,000 members. If you are looking for an exotic place where you can learn about green living, get some garden ideas, and enjoy nature, Missouri Botanical Garden is the place to be. This 32-hectare garden is opened from 9 am to 5 pm every day and has a lot of activities to engage in and a lot of information to offer.

The Japanese garden

If you are not looking for an authentic garden in the Midwest, the Missouri Botanical Garden will surprise you. This 14-acre Japanese garden feels like the home of all traditional Japanese elements like footbridges, a large lake, and lanterns. Here, you get to explore the Japanese culture and enjoy some of their festivals like tea ceremonies, sumo wrestling, and traditional music.

Tower grove house

This was once the home of Henry Shaw, who is also the garden’s founder. When you walk through the tower grove, you tour the house and have an experience of what life was like in the 19th century. This tower has undergone several furnishings and restorations over the past few years. It is open daily, April through December.

Victorian District

This is an area that surrounds the tower grove house. It has paths that lead to several Victorian-style gardens with colorful and elaborate combinations of plants and flowers. There is also a white statue of the goddess Juno that was previously owned but Henry Shaw in 1885. If you love a little bit of mystery, you will enjoy finding your way through the yew hedge maze and the pincushion garden, which has 20 circular beds of amazing plants.

Children’s garden

This is an incredible part if you are taking the tour with your kids. It is a large space filled with rope bridges, slides, trees houses, outdoor classes, and caves, just to name a few. During the hotter days of the year, there is a splash area where kids can cool down and enjoy each other’s company. It is excellent to allow students to burn off some energy and keep busy while learning some special things about nature. You will pay a fee of $5 for the child, but parents enter for free.

Linnean house

This house was built in 1882 and had one of the oldest operating public greenhouses West of the Mississippi River. Originally, this greenhouse was used to house a variety of plants that could not survive winter. Today, however, it is filled with camelia, cacti, and citric plants from all over the world.

Conclusion

This garden gives you the chance to explore plants from all over the world and their different characteristics. You get to enjoy the beauty of nature and the numerous gifts it has to offer. It is excellent because it has a romantic setting for couples and a fun scene for kids.
