Career gap analysis reflection
As we can observe from the table where I aspire to be a lawyer at my level, I have met most of the requirements. For instance, educationally, I have obtained a Juris Doctor who is a critical requirement in the career. Additionally, I have shown exemplary results, for example, in the law school admission test, where I scored 170. Also, outstanding personal characteristics, such as strong technical legal, drafting skills, analytical, and research skills, place me in a competitive position as a lawyer. In a general consideration of the significant requirements, I have achieved the majority of them in a manner depicting a vast understanding of the career. These aspects and qualifications are primary considerations to the employer; thus, I will be placed in a better position in the interviewing process.. However, there are qualifications I have to achieve before I am employed as a lawyer in a firm. For instance, I found a gap in the completion of clerkship in a local firm, which contributes to my experience. Another qualification I am still to achieve in the future is the 3-6 years’ experience in a respected firm, which is one of the critical considerations of the employer. Also, I have found a gap in the legal entitlement to practice law in my state. As a person, I don’t view the lack of these qualifications as drawbacks since I am still in the process of achieving them. For example, currently, I have enrolled in the law society of Ontario’s Law Practice, which will help in satisfying the experimental component of the lawyer licensing process. Additionally, after I complete the course, which is about four months, I will be legally entitled to practice law in Canada.
As an individual, I am still determined to explore a career as a lawyer where I have put into place plans which will enable me to achieve what I have not accomplished. In areas where I have identified a gap such as completion of clerkship at a local firm have already made plans to enrol and bridge the difference between the theory, I learned in class and the actual law practice. In terms of experience, I plan to join a respectable law firm to gain experience. Thus within three years, I will be among the individuals who can be considered by the employers in various firms. Therefore, I am still settled in exploring a career as a lawyer.
