Philosophy Reading Critical Analyzes of Colonized and Immigrant Minorities

Colonized minorities in the USA are mainly people of color who were involuntary migrants. The dominant groups who were in power and control of various aspects in society led to the creation of minority status. The minorities were either immigrants, colonized groups, or conquered native groups who were also minor. They weresubjected to forced labor and also mostly segregated, with their movements limited. Blauner argues that even native white immigrants like the Italians and the Jewish were also regarded as a part of the other racial group. They were subjected to racial discrimination and faced challenges in acquiring different resources. The Minorities all faced challenges in terms of acceptance, and Blauner states that they were viewed as incapable of becoming Americans. Some of them still practiced their cultural traditions and upheld their values, thus making it hard for them to be fully assimilated to the American Values. Although the minority groups were as a result of competition for land and labor, Blauner states the differences between the immigrant minorities and colonized ethnic groups.

The ethnic immigrants and the colonized racial groups all faced challenges in getting work opportunities. Despite both these groups being kept on the economic periphery, the white immigrants were able to earn low wage jobs compared to the colonized immigrants. The colonized immigrants worked as laborers in the fields and industries. They were used for unskilled jobs and often cheap labor. Later on, the white immigrants who were on different labor situations were able to earn good-paying jobs while the black or color people were still on the unskilled jobs. In various sectors, unions to champion for the workers’ rights were not able to be formed due to racial discrimination or segregation.

As the white West political power has spread throughout the globe, the political rights of the colonized black or color minorities and the white immigrants were also different. The white immigrants were able to acquire citizenship easily than people of color. These enabled them to practice their political rights so that they could elect leaders who could fight for them.  The African’s and color immigrants were also restricted in participating in political matters while the Asians were unable even to vote. Due to racial discrimination and segregation, some of the groups lacked leaders who could represent them on political issues..

With the European immigrants working in an excellent industrialized modern sector, colonized immigrants were mostly used in unskilled jobs, which affected their families. The whites were able to navigate through the social and economic pyramids, which made it easy for their wives to spend time with their children. In contrast, African, Asian, and Mexican women worked on farms and spent less time at home. They had to provide hard labor and support the men on the farms. These led to inequalities as the children of the whites had the chance to concentrate on their education while the colonized Asian, African, and Mexican children supported their parents.

In conclusion, when comparing the different minority groups, it is essential to note the structural difference that existed. For instance, when doing a project, the differences in labor between the European and colonized immigrants, the type of settlement among the groups can help in answering the hypothesis. The European immigrants had an advantage as they were afforded the right positions in industries and settled in urban places. They could also practice their native languages.Despite the people of color being crucial in the development of infrastructures, they had to settle for cheap labor and unskilled jobs. Furthermore, Africans of the same ethnicity were also separated.
