• The rise of the temperature is the leading cause of coral bleaching.
• During the summer, there is an increase in temperature for a long time. This makes the coral no to function normally. This causes the death of corals because high heat speeds up the allergy activity that is in the skin of the coral and exposes the tissues starves to death and rot.
• The bleaching of the corals happens at a very alarming rate; hence a lot of corals die.
• Despite these harsh environmental conditions and abuse from human beings, some corals survive.
• Coral reefs are of great significance as they are beautiful and attractive, help protect the shorelines, provide food for human beings, and also support tourism due to the beautiful nature.
• Some coral reefs heal from bleaching and redevelop the tissues, skin, and regrow; however, it takes a long period.
• This can growth can be fastened by reducing the stresses they experience, such as overfishing, sewage pollution, and fertilizer pollution.

The speaker is right about coral reefs that they need to be supported to make their environment favorable for growth. This is because they are of great importance to both human beings and also to the environment. It is also true that their existence is under threat of the climatic changes in planet earth since 60% of the coral reefs are already damaged due to stress exposed to the by human activities

How do you feel overall with the health of coral reefs?.

In my view, the health of coral is under threat and may be extinct soon. This is because local factors such as pollution, coral bleaching, and coral mining destroy them at a higher rate than the corals reproduce.

• There is a need to create awareness among the people on what is going on about coral reefs. This should be done through national Television stations and Social media. This will make them refrain from activities that cause stress to corals.
• Overfishing causes the death of many coral reefs. This is because algae, which is fed on by fish, will grow in large numbers hence killing coral reefs.
• We need to protect the corals at all costs since they are of considerable significance to humankind and the environment.
